Risk Visualization Of Cultural Heritage Site

Cultural heritage site is the historical legacy of precious material and spiritual treasure.It carries the sense of national belonging,identity and pride,as well as represents profound historical and cultural connotations.Meanwhile cultural heritage is limited,irreplaceable and non-renewable valuable resources.However,cultural heritage is undoubtedly fragile and vulnerable.With excessive development of the economy and continued degradation of the environment,more and more risk factors seriously threat the preservation of cultural heritage.Conservation of cultural heritage has become an onerous and serious topic for all governments and people all over the world.With the purpose of preventive conservation,this dissertation focuses on risk visualization and visual analytics of cultural heritage.Guided by risk management theory,the methods of risk visual analytics,the risk visual analytics model and the multiple risk management system based upon the risk visual analytics model that fulfill the characteristics and requirements of cultural heritage are proposed,which can help curators of cultural heritages to deal with the challenges in the risk management.The main contributions of this dissertation are summarized as follows:A visual analytics approach for deterioration risk of cultural heritage is proposed.In this work we firstly proposed a risk identification and assessment tool and deterioration risk to implement risk quantitative assessment.Next,based on risk management theory,the approach supports all visual analytics process of deterioration risk management through a series of visualization tool.Users can analyze deterioration risks from different aspects and multiple scales to discover risk patterns and mechanism knowledges,which can provide the basis to decision making of risk treatment.A visual analytics approach for flood risk of cultural heritage is proposed.Based On risk management theory,flood risk model and ensemble simulation,this approach provides multiple visualization tools to implement the visual analytics process of all processes of risk management.The approach offers curators the ability to manage flood risk conveniently and efficiently,as well as support decision making of risk treatment.A risk visual analytics model for cultural heritage is proposed.According to the characteristics of risk management practice in cultural heritage,this model is designed based on the Human Cognition Model and the Knowledge Generation Model by combining risk management with risk analytics model.Thereafter,a multiple risk management system is designed and implemented by applying the risk visual analytics model.
