Research On The Ideology Of Turkey's Justice And Development Party

Against the contemporary background,research significance of the ideology studies has changed,and the ideology has been increasingly used from the perspective of state governance.The ideology of ruling parties,as the ideas and value systems which play a dominant role in state governance,has a strong practicality in fields such as politics,economics and society.The ideology of ruling parties has become the important part of states.It is not only the guarantee of the ruling legitimacy of ruling parties,but also the source of collective identity for people,which plays a role in social integration and mass mobilization.Changes in the ideology of ruling parties will lead to the transformation of national politic situation and other changes in economic and social fields.Prior to the taking power of the AKP,Turkey has already been a developing power locating between the East and the West,and among the most democratic and modernized countries in the Middle East.However,there are still divergence between secularism and Islamism politically,contradictions among different regions,classes,cultures and ethnic groups socially,and unsmooth progress of its joining in Western club diplomatically.These unsolved problems have become important factors shaping and influencing the ideology and ruling practices of the AKP.Based on researches on the historical development of ideologies of political parties since the founding of Republic of Turkey,this paper comprehensively analyzes the"conservative democracy" of the AKP from perspectives of its views on politics,society,economics and diplomacy,combined with the theoretical propositions,theoretical sources,connotation analysis and governance practice of the party.On the political level,the AKP stresses the democracy meeting the standard of Western universal democratic values.It advocates to gradual reforms and have carried out many practices on democratization reforms,which has changed the military supervisory system in Turkey while has also led to authoritarian and populist tendencies.On the social level,the AKP advocates multi-democracy,making a balance in Turkey between the civil society with traditional religions and culture and the secular country.Radical social policies and social outlook of Kemalism has been eased.In practice,the AKP has also had some more diversified and inclusive culture policies.However,viewing from its methods toward the Kurdish issue and its relationship with the Gulen movement,it could be found that the multi-democracy of the AKP should be based on the stability of tis regime.Economically,the AKP advocates neo-liberalism,focuses on privatization and globalization,and makes huge progress in economic development with its reforms.However,guided by neo-liberalism,Turkish economic development faces crises of theory and reality,showing that Turkish economy still have potential problems in future.On the diplomatic level,the AKP advocates more diversified and active diplomacy.Such diplomacy has expanded the diplomatic platform of Turkey.At the same time,however,diplomacy of Turkey is not mature enough to meet its strength and ambition.Turkey should position itself as a medium sized regional power.Generally speaking,the ideology of the AKP,based on the acceptance of secularism,stresses not only Western democracy,but also its own traditional cultural and historical values.Coupled with the analysis on the progress and problems faced by the AKP,it can be found that such ideology is of strong inclusive,practical and utilitarian significance,that's why the AKP could win support from the public to strengthen its power.However,it could also be found that the ideology lacks consistency and long-term plan in its theory and practice.The long-term practice of"conservative democracy" of the AKP,the coordination between stable regime and political democracy,social diversity and economic development,the pursuits of the AKP for political democracy,social diversity,economic freedom and the status as a diplomatic power,still requires AKP's constantly exploration on theory and practices.
