Trade union has a long history in the United States. With the establishment of capitalist mode of production and the intensification of the contradictions between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie, workers began to spontaneously organize movements. In order to unite workers and safeguard their interests, trade unions came into being.Trade unions play an important role in the political and economic life of American society.Trade unions and workers' movement are the focus and hot issues of the whole society.By uniting workers and negotiating with the management for better rights, wages and welfare, the trade union eased class conflicts and contradictions, and built a stable and harmonious labor relationship, thus promoting the healthy and orderly development of the economy and social progress. As an economic power in the world, the development and change of its economic and political structure has a decisive impact on the whole world.By studying the historical process of its emergence, development and decline, combing its development context, starting from historical materialism, examining the rise and fall of American trade unions from the perspective of Marxism, deeply analyzing its internal and external factors,we can understand the nature of its decline.Marx and Engels' theories on the mission of the working class and trade union clearly depict the bright future of the development of the working class, encouraging and encouraging generations of working class to unite and fight against the bourgeoisie unremittingly. The theory of working class movement and trade union laid the class foundation and practical foundation for the formation of Marxism. From the perspective of Marxism, the trade union is an important organizational form of the workers' movement and an important force to criticize capitalism and finally overthrow the bourgeois rule.On the premise of recognizing the existing capitalist system in the United States, the trade union of the United States limited to protect the rights and interests of workers. Its compromise and incomplete struggle with the bourgeoisie led to its inevitable decline. The trade union of our country has the advantage that the western trade union can't reach. This advantage benefits from the leadership of the ruling party and the superiority of the socialist system.Understanding the differences between China's trade union and American trade union is conducive to upholding China's trade union system, finding the existing shortcomings of China's trade union, and bringing some thoughts,in order to help China's trade union improve the existing shortcomings, and play a greater role in safeguarding the vital interests of the majority of workers. The writing of this paper is based on the existing academic achievements at home and abroad, and adopts the latest data of foreign databases.By drawing lessons from and summarizing the achievements of monographs, periodicals, reports and other researches on trade unions and workers' movements at home and abroad,it provides thinking for the trade unions of our country in the construction of harmonious labor relations in the new era. This paper is divided into five partsThe first part is the introduction, which introduces the research background and significance of the paper, the overview of Marx's trade union theory, the research status at home and abroad, research methods, possible innovations and shortcomings. The second part introduces the organization and function of American trade union.American trade unions can be roughly divided into local trade unions, national trade unions and trade union federations represented by AFL-CIO.This chapter focuses on the functions of the American trade union and the role it plays in social development. It is the three main functions of the American trade union to organize workers to attend the meeting as much as possible,to conduct collective negotiation with the management, and to strive for and improve the rights and interests of workers. At present, although the influence of American trade union is gradually weakened,it reduces the inequality of workers in the economic environment, reduces the wage gap between gender and race, improves the health and safety problems in the workplace, and works with American trade union to continue education for workers and guarantee their family life and pension security after retirement, which has made certain contributions to maintaining social stability Contribution. The third part investigates the origin and development of American trade union. As early as in the colonial period, the American workers' movement had begun to sprout. In 1827,the establishment of Philadelphia workers' Union marked the beginning of the organized workers' movement in the United States. The trade union also developed from the trade union to the industrial union and finally to the National Union.American workers paved the way for the development of labor union with sweat and blood, and its influence also improved with the development of labor movement. After the emergence of the three national trade union organizations, the large-scale organized labor movement swept the whole United States;after the Second World War,with the union of AFL-CIO two major trade unions, the number of American workers joining the trade union reached the highest point in history;with the development of globalization and the influence of Neo liberalism, the economic development and industrial pattern of the United States have changed dramatically,so far,the workers The movement began to fall into a low tide, and the development of trade unions gradually declined. The fourth part mainly discusses the current situation and difficulties of American trade unions. In order to discuss the current situation of American trade unions in detail and in depth, the author expounds from two different angles: public sector trade unions and private sector trade unions, and introduces the influence of them respectively, the influence of public sector trade unions' membership rate exceeding that of private sector trade unions, and the dispute of public sector trade unions' development. Then it analyzes the difficulties faced by the development of American trade unions, including the weakening of the influence of trade unions brought by the continuous decline of the number of members, the increasing pressure exerted by the management on trade unions, the infringement of trade unions by anti trade union groups and anti trade union legislators, and the increasing challenges to collective bargaining. The fifth part is the focus of this paper, which is to examine the essence of the decline of American trade unions from the perspective of Marxism.First of all,the Marxist Interpretation of the emergence and development of the American trade union is that the capitalist mode of production is the inevitable condition for the emergence of the trade union. In order to solve and ease the labor conflict, the labor relationship is essentially the confrontation and game between the two classes, and the trade union becomes a weapon for the working class to fight against the bourgeoisie.Second,it is a weapon for the decline of the American trade union both inside and outside Based on the analysis and clarification of Marxism, the labor conflicts under the capitalist system can't be solved by the labor union.Under the premise of recognizing the existing capitalist system in the United States, the American labor union protects the rights and interests of workers' work to a limited extent, which plays a temporary role in easing the sharp labor conflicts under the capitalist system, but its compromise and struggle with the bourgeoisie Its decline is inevitable because of its incompleteness. In the conclusion part, the author compares Chinese trade union with American trade union in terms of the production, nature and function of the trade union, and understands the differences between Chinese trade union and American trade union, which is helpful to stick to the trade union system of our country, find out the existing shortcomings of Chinese trade Union, and bring some thoughts,so as to improve the existing shortcomings of Chinese trade union, and play the vital interests of the majority of workers More important.Based on the consideration and utilization of some positive factors existing in American trade unions, this paper concludes that the advantages of American trade unions lie in the flexibility and diversity of forms. At the same time,we should strengthen the advantages of trade unions in China and combine with the national conditions of our country,so as to give proper reference to the flexibility of collective bargaining of American trade unions and the experience of American trade unions in the multi-level welfare system.
