A Comparative Study Of Neo-Marxist Urban Space Theory And China's New Urbanization Theory

Urbanization is a process of natural history and social practice,which is produced with the development of economy and society.It is also an important content and means of realizing the modernization.In different countries and different stages of economic and social development,the development of urbanization will take on different stages.Since the founding of New China,especially after the reform and opening up,with the stage development of China’s economy and society,China’s urbanization construction gets remarkable achievements.At the same time,the urbanization tendency of treasuring goods and materials and attaching little importance to talented people emerged because of various reasons,which triggered a series of difficult problems and social contradictions.The clear problem orientation and economic and social development have entered a new era,which makes us realize that the “new urbanization” has become an inevitable choice.But as for the problem of what new urbanization is and how to promote it,it is still in constant exploration and pilot.In this case,“reference” is an important method for the construction of new urbanization theory and road exploration.Looking back at the history of the world urbanization,the western countries also had different degrees of urban space problems and crises in the economic and social development and urbanization practice,forming the theory of urbanization with different class nature and different paradigms.Especially the Neo-Marxism city space theory caused by the orientation of the capitalist crisis in 1970 s,of which Lefebvre,Harvey and Custer are representatives,creatively combine the Marxism and the city problems,the spatial perspective and production methods,use the Marx’s position and views to answer the mechanism of the City,origin and development trends under capitalism operation,which is undoubtedly an important inspiration for the theory and practice of new towns in china.Therefore,use the comparative research method,take Marx’s new city space theory and the China’s new urbanization theory the problem domain,which have the same problem domain,instructions and class position and different degree of urbanization and different formation backgrounds for comparative analysis.The purpose of this paper is to use the form of “Enlightenment” to explore the theory and practice of the development of new towns in the country.This determines the article mainly includes three parts: the proposal and development of Neo-Marxism urban space theory,the proposal and development of the new urbanization theory of China,and the comparison and inspiration of the two theories.Among them,the Neo-Marxism theory is the reflection of the city space and city space crisis theory in the background of capitalist crisis practice change and economic and social development in urban society.It is not only the search for Marxism’s new development after the decline of traditional Marx’s theory,but also the achievements by inhering and drawing lessons from the traditional space concept and the city thoughts;The space production theory,space theory and space theory of justice were put forward by focusing on “what the city and the production of space are;how the city runs,why the problem of space injustice emerges;how to solve the city problem,how to construct the future space” and other basic issues;due to economic determinism,we relatively neglect the cultural factors in the process of urbanization,but we create a spatial perspective on the city,and from the angle of the city to promote the new development of Marxism.The formation of new urbanization theory also has profound background and problem orientation,it was put forward under the background of a new round of technological revolution and the international financial crisis promoting global economic development and profound changes of governance pattern development,and China’s economic and social development enters into the new normal and new age,it is a strategic adjustment aimed at many social problems in the process of the traditional urbanization development in China and the reflection and reconstruction on the theory and practice of traditional towns;it experiences two stages: preliminary study and germination,comprehensive study and preliminary formation;focusing on the problem of new urbanization “ what,why and how to develop”,the connotation and features of new urbanization,dynamic mechanism,advance ideas and evaluation system formed;It is an exploration on the sinicization of Marx’s new city idea,but also the ideological guide of the new type of urbanization in China,although the system has initially taken shape,it still needs to be perfected.Through the detailed combing,we know that the two theories have both similarities and differences in origin background and content methods.The commonality of two kinds can be regarded as the general law of urbanization development,for example,there are many factors that influence the development of urbanization,of which the government and the capital(market)are the main factors;the urbanization which is under the control of the government and the market will inevitable cause contradictions and problems etc.The difference between the two theories means the possibility of learning from each other.Specifically,the enlightenments from the Neo-Marxism city space theory are: focus on the analysis of Chinese urbanization theory and practice from the perspective of space;the development mechanism and the cause of contradictions of urbanization need further explanation;new urbanization theory can’t ignore the human factors in the process of urbanization;it is also essential to play the role of capital and government regulation;the construction of new urbanization should pay attention to public participation as the core of the urban space and human rights;justice is the fundamental value of new urbanization to follow.
