Research On The Construction Of University Student Associations

The report delivered at the 19 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China puts forward the requirements of the times for building our country into one with strong education and calls for implementing the fundamental task of cultivating talents with moral integrity,developing quality-oriented education and training socialist builders and successors featuring an all-round development in morality,intelligence,physique and art.At the 2018 National Education Congress,General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out: “Great efforts should be made to enhance the comprehensive quality of education,guiding students to cultivate comprehensive ability and innovative thinking.” The construction of university students’ associations is related to the improvement of students’ comprehensive quality and the cultivation of people in the new era of national rejuvenation.Strengthening the construction of university students’ associations is an imperative requirement to promote the connotative development of higher education in China and to realize the goal of building a strong country in education.Along with the continuous development of the reform in higher education,the scale of higher education in China has been continuously expanded and the university students’ associations have developed rapidly.With the rich varieties of students’ associations and diverse activities,these students’ associations have become an important part of the campus culture.However,there still exist many problems in the development of university students’ associations in China.For example,universities and the whole society have incomplete understanding of the roles of university students’ associations;the guidance from the Party and League Organization to the students’ associations is insufficient;the management of the association is not standardized and the system is unsound;the structure of organization is loose and lacks cohesive force;the quality of association activities is not high,with the good and bad intermingled and so on.The construction of university students’ associations hasn’t met the requirements of university personnel training in the new era,which needs to be improved further under the leadership of the Party.Therefore,in order to solve the problems in the construction of university students’ associations and promote their healthy development,this paper is intended to conduct a further discussion and analysis on the theme of the construction of university students’ associations.Based on the research ideas of what the construction of university students’ associations is;why it is necessary to construct university students’ associations;what the current situation of the construction of university students’ associations is and how to construct university students’ associations,the following three aspects are adopted to help analyze and frame the theme: association organization,association management and association activities.This paper is divided into four parts(6 chapters),focusing on the basic theories,the requirements of the times,the status of construction,the construction principles and the construction path of university students’ associations.The first part(Chapter 1 and Chapter 2)deals with the basic theory of university students’ associations,mainly studying what university students’ association is and explaining the purpose,current situation,methods and innovations of this study.It also investigates and distinguishes the related concepts,characteristics and categories of university students’ associations.By analyzing the functions of university students’ associations in China,it is believed that students’ associations are an effective extension of the first classroom,a platform for cultivating the comprehensive quality of university students,an effective way for university students’ ideological and political education,and an important driving force for building a harmonious campus.From the four stages before the founding of New China,after the founding of New China,after the reform and opening up,and since entering the new era,this paper analyses the development process of college student associations,and summarizes the development experience of college student associations.The second part(Chapter 3)puts forward the theoretical basis and the requirements of the times for the construction of university students’ associations,mainly analyzing why it is necessary to strengthen the construction of university students’ associations.It is suggested that Marxist Theory on the Essence of Man,Marxist Social Organization Theory,Marxist Theory on young successors,the carrier function of ideological and political education,and multi-disciplinary theoretical sources are the theoretical basis for the construction of university students’ associations;it is proposed that sociality,autonomy and guidance of university students’ management are the basis of strengthening the construction of university students’ associations for the new times;to cope with the changes of social contradictions in the new era,to build a high-level personnel training system and to meet the diversified needs of university students in the new era are the requirements of the times to strengthen the construction of university students’ associations.The third part(Chapter 4)conducts a study on the status of the construction of university students’ associations.From the three dimensions of association organization,association management and association activities,it analyzes the achievements and existing problems of university students’ associations.In terms of the organization of university students’ associations,it is suggested that the organization of university students’ societies is characterized by a large number of types and covering a wide range.At the same time,there are some problems such as loose organization structure,unclear categories,lack of cohesiveness and high mobility of society participants.In the aspect of association management,it is believed that the management of university students’ associations is increasingly standardized and regulated by law,with flexible and diverse management mode.At the same time,there are some problems such as the imperfect management system of the associations,the uneven ability of the managers of the associations,and the serious tendency of bureaucratization of the associations.In terms of the construction of association activities,it is considered that there are abundant and diverse varieties of community activities.However,there are also problems such as the low level of association activities and neglect of meaning in the design of association activities.The modernization level of social governance,the management system and the organizers’ ability are the important factors that affect and restrict the construction of university students’ associations.The fourth part(Chapter 5 and Chapter 6)is about the principles and path of the construction of university students’ associations,mainly analyzing how the university students’ associations are going to be constructed.On the basis of the analysis of the construction goals of university students’ associations,it is believed that the construction should adhere to the correct principles.In strengthening the leadership of university students’ associations,it is advocated to build a powerful leadership mechanism.In the construction of association organizations,it is necessary to standardize the categories of student associations,enhance the autonomy of association organizations,cultivate the awareness of innovation in association organizations,and formulate reasonable practical development plans.In the aspect of association management,it is necessary to strengthen the political guidance and effective supervision to student associations,establish a scientific management mechanism with clear responsibilities of student associations,and promote the implementation of the management model of social activities.In the construction of association activities,it is necessary to highlight the ideological and political function in education,integrate association activities into the professional courses of university students,improve the ability of university students to innovate and start a business,and continuously improve the quality of association activities.
