The Structure Evolution Of Chinese Manufacturing Exports And Their Outside Influence

China's export structure at industry level has changed dramatically in those years,however,under the background of international division of factor and extending industrial chain,the export structure analysis on the basis of industry classification cannot entertain the need for further research,and its conclusions are not comprehensive for policy making.With the deepening of intra-product specialization,export structure analysis could not stay at the industry level,and must go deep into products structure within industries,so as to get a comprehensive understanding of present situation and structure change of China's export,and to provide research basis for policy making about trade structure adjustment.This article reviews firstly the status of China's foreign trade structure at industry level,then on the perspective of technology and quality,it emphatically measures the technology complexity and quality of products,and analyzes structure adjustment of China's manufacturing export at product level.The article make advantage of the latest measurement methods in the international trade research field to measure technology and quality of the export products,and shows objectively and quantitatively the structure evolution of China's manufacturing export at product as well as industry level.As to the technology structure envolution of export,this article analyzes them from the effects of industry upgrade and product structure adiustment,the results show that the structural transformation between industries coexist with the going to low and middle level within industries.Export technology structure is generally lower than imported products.Fortunately,a lot of industries are undergoing techno log improvement in export,a few number of them is deteriorating.Compared with general trade,processing trade have no significant advantages in product technical structure within industries,and the article also shows that processing trade has played an important role in the structural transformation between manufacturing industries,however it's not beneficial for product adjustment within industries.As to the quality structure envolution of export,In order to measure export quality accurately,manufacturing export products are classified into three types,and then the article measures quality with different methods according to its type.Classification result shows China's manufacturing export products are not fully rely on price competition;on the contrary,more products rely on quality rather than price competition.On the basis of measurement about product quality,the article analyzes the structure change in manufacturing export quality.Studies show that more than half of the number of industries is experiencing quality structure optimizing,at the same time,a few of them has not improved in quality structure.On the basis of above conclusions,based on existing theoretical research,the paper empirically tested outside factors affecting the manufacturing export structure evolution.Empirical analysis results show that import of intermediate and capital goods,export growth are the main factors influencing technology structure.The import intensity of capital and intermediate goods has a significant effect on export technology structure,and the effects are different according to its exporting countries.Export growth is very significant for the change of export technical structure,and promotes the structure optimization.Empirical analysis results show research and development activities,export growth,foreign direct investment and tariff reduction are the main factors which have effects on export quality structure evolution.Moreover,for different types of products,the impacts of those factors are different.Export growth has a significant role in promoting export quality structure for all types of products.R&D density is also positively related to the export quality structure for type of quality competition products,but not significant for type of price competition and other type.Foreign direct investment activities have played a significant role in promoting quality structure for type of price competition and other type.Tariff reductions hase also improved quality structure for quality competition products.The research has strong realistic meaning and policy implications.Finally,in chapter seven of this article,we summarize the research conclusions and give the corresponding policy recommendations and research prospects.
