Study On Mechanism And Effect Of Spatial Economic Linkages On The Edge Area Of Metropolitan Circles

It has been proposed in the report at 19th CPC national Congress that the implementation of coordinated regional development strategy could benefit from constructing an urban pattern that cities of different sizes and small towns develop coordinately.Urban agglomerations play an important role in that urban pattern.At present,it is urban agglomerations that leading the urban space expansion,the rapid development of multi-metropolitan circle/urban agglomeration and interactions between them give rise to the promotion of a new geospatial type,namely edge area of metropolitan circles,in the exterior junction area of radiation scope.The development predicament of peripheral region is becoming increasingly prominent with the aggregation growth of metropolitan circles.Theoretical basis and empirical evidence are to be developed to meet the need of the problem that how to make development orientation for edge area and what is the mechanism of the economic connection between edge area and metropolitan.As a result,on the spatial base of multi-metropolitan interaction,taking the construction of the relation model of edge area and multi-metropolitan circle and its mechanism analysis as the key of this project,this project is expected to promote the harmonious development of regional economy,and construct a coherently theoretical logic composed of pattern,mechanization,effect and regulation.Taking Huaian as case study area,which located in the edge of three metropolitan circles of Jiangsu Province,statistical analysis and spatial analysis,quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis are combined to investigate the characteristics,mechanism and effect of tempo-spatial evolution of economic linkages of edge area of metropolitan circles from three perspectives of macroscopic,mid-scopic and microcosmic scale,and then uncover the function mechanism of spatial economic linkages in edge areas.The products of this project are expected to rich the perspective,substance and method of the study of economic geography,and simultaneously provide theoretical and practical guidance for the case study area.The thesis is divided into eight chapters.Chapter I presents an introduction to the thesis.Following the concept definition of megalopolis,fringe area and metropolitan fringe,which has been conducted under the background of the newly economic growth at the outskirt of megalopolis or urban agglomerations,this chapter introduces the main contents,objectives,experimental methods and case selection of this thesis.Chapter II reviews the previous literature and the associated theories of the spatial economic linkages,edge area and edge effect,by which the foundation of this thesis has been constructed.Chapter III mainly discusses the theory of spatial economic connection.In this chapter,based on the explanations of the way of spatial interaction and the influence factors of spatial economic relations,the theoretical system of this thesis has been constructed from the macro,meso and micro perspective.Chapter IV analyses the evolution pattern of the spatial economic connections between metropolitan fringes.The spatial extent of the case study area has been defined by comprehensive consideration of many elements.Then,taking typical years as time segment,the evolution characteristics and laws of the connection patterns of space,industries and enterprises in metropolitan fringes have been deeply explored.Chapter V states the mechanism of spatial economic connections in metropolitan fringes.By the linkage of a macro-meso-micro perspective on the spatial quantitative analysis composed of multiple scales and multiple models,the mechanism of the spatial economic connection in metropolitan fringes has been refined.Chapter VI explored the synthetic effects of spatial economic connections in metropolitan fringes.Based on the analysis of spatial evolution pattern of economic development,the effect of the evolution of spatial economic connection manifested by spatial spillover effects and regional edge effect,which can give interpretation for the mechanism and suggestion for practice.Chapter VII revealed the suggestions on the optimization and regulations of economic space in metropolitan fringes.Guiding by coordinated regional development strategy,the way of optimization and regulations of economic development in metropolitan fringes has been discussed,followed by several policy recommendations.Chapter VIII is the conclusion and prospect.On the basis of summarize the main conclusion of this thesis,the potential innovations and shortages have been discussed,and then look forward to the direction of effort for future research.By doing theoretical and practical analysis,the main findings of this thesis included the following:(1)Under the pattern of multi megalopolis,fringe area simultaneously exposed to several megalopolis and there is no an economic unit that accounts for a dominant condition.For the regional connection pattern,the subject intensity of economic linkages between Huaian and Nanjing metropolis,Su-xi-chang metropolis,Xuzhou metropolis are 39.40%,31.35%,29.25%respectively.(2)The evolution pattern of the spatial economic connections of edge area is the outcome of endogenous dynamic,which including market aggregation elements(such as capital,labor force,and human resources),industrial structure,and exogenous dynamic,which including traffic accessibility,institution and policy,culture,spatial co-competition environment.The main factors affecting the economic linkages in the edge areas are different during the different periods,and the contribution of the same influencing factors is different as time went on.(3)There are different spatial interaction effects between edge area and multiple urban agglomerations.In terms of spillover effects,both spread effect(trickle-down effect)and polarization effect(backwash effect)exist in edge area of metropolitan circles.Among them,the spread effect is the main factor in the metropolitan circle of su-xi-chang,and the metropolitan circle of xuzhou is dominated by the bcckwash effect,and the both effect of nanjing metropolitan circle is obvious.In terms of edge effect,the effect of the three major metropolitan areas of Jiangsu on Huai'an mainly shifts from the shielding effect to the mediating effect.However,the edge effect between Huai'an and the two metropolitan areas shows different evolutionary patterns.(4)Following the analysis of the respond and disadvantage of microcosmic region(edge area)to the macroscopic development,through the mutual reciprocity and mutual benefit,complementary advantages,market leading,multi-party linkage principle,it was adopted to formulate the optimization of the construction of the edge area of metropolitan circles based on the coordinated development of the district.Regulatory objectives,proposed to construct sublevel growth poles,dislocation development of industry,development of enterprise clusters and other regulatory paths,and put forward proposals such as improving infrastructure networks and establishing regional coordinated development mechanisms and policy.
