As an important part of informatization,the telecommunications industry not only contributes to the development of other industries,but also contributes to the improvement of national information competence and quality of life.With the repaid technological development,such as wireless network,cloud computing,and big data,the conception of the telecommunications industry has been continuously enriched,more and more new players participate in,which subsequently result in that the structure of the industry chain and the relationship among the players is more complicated.At the same time,it has brought many problems to the industrial development.Overall,the value creation of the industry is not reach to the maximum,and the value distribution is not balanced among the players.Specifically,it is reflected in:(1)The number of players in the telecommunications industry chain increases,the boundaries and positioning of the players are not clear;(2)The relationship between the vertical players of the telecommunications industry chain is nonlinear and dynamic,and shows duality of competition and cooperation,and the co-opetition relationship among players is different;(3)The position of players' changes,and the dominance of mobile network operators weakens,and the position that it used to be the center of the industry chain is shaken;(4)The conflict among the players increases,which makes limitation of the synergy development.Strengthening the cooperation relationship between the vertical players of the telecommunications industry chain and guiding moderate competition can enable different players to achieve higher performance,produce the synergy effect of the industry chain,and provide necessary foundation for accelerating the harmonious development of the telecommunications industry.Research on the competition and cooperation relationship and synergy mechanism between the vertical players of the telecommunications industry chain can provide theoretical support and practical guidance for them and the whole industry,and contribute to achieve the harmonious and healthy development of the telecommunications industry.Due to the large number of players and complex structure in the telecommunications industry chain,based on the system theory,the telecommunications industry chain system is divided into three subsystems according to the conditions required for the industry chain to provide services: mobile telecom network infrastructure subsystem,and telecommunication service subsystem,and handset subsystem;three subsystems are connected by mobile network operators,and mobile network operators are the center and bridge connecting the entire industry chain.The stable development and value capture of the telecommunications industry chain rely on stable development of each subsystem and intimate cooperation relationship between them.Based on this,this research focuses on the competition and cooperation relationship and synergy mechanism between the vertical players of the telecommunications industry chain.Firstly,this paper analyzes the characteristics of the telecommunications industry and its evolution process,motivation and problems,which in order to establish the research framework and find out the structure of telecommunications industry chain and the characteristics of the competition and cooperation relations between the vertical players.And then,the paper analyzes the co-opetition relationship between the players in the telecom network infrastructure subsystem and the telecommunication service subsystem by using different theoretical methods.Finally,from a comprehensive view point,this paper proposed the model of the synergy mechanism of the telecommunications industry chain,and concludes with implications for management and policy.Specifically,the main research contents and results are as follows:(1)Define the vertical players of the telecommunications industry chain and the characteristics of the co-opetition relationship among them.The telecommunications industry chain continuously evolves under the multiple motives such as user demand,technological progress,and policy environment,and so on.Although the it has been deconstructed,and evolved into an industry network,the industry chain is still the main line of value creation.The telecommunications industry has five important vertical players,these are mobile network operators,equipement vendors,system integrators,service providers,and handset manufacturers.And they cooperate in terms of resources and technology to provide final products or services to end users,and competes when distributing market shares or interests.In this,the cooperation between vertical players is mainly represented by market trading relationship and strategic partnership;and the competitive relationship is mainly represented by business competition in same market.(2)The co-opetition relationship between the mobile network operators and the systems integrators in the telecom network infrastructure subsystem.Telecom network infrastructure plays an important role in the overall development of the telecom industry,as it carries the telecommunications services.The actual player that take control of telecom network infrastructure is mobile network operators in china.In order to reduce transaction costs,mobile network operators have separated the infrastructure construction activities from their own value chains,so the system integrators became an important player in this subsystem.Using evolutionary game theory to analyze the competition and cooperation between mobile network operators and system integrators,this paper found out that the possibility of cooperation between the two players would increase with the decrease of cooperation cost,increase of cooperation revenue,or decrease of betrayal revenue.Besides,there is a proportion of income distribution between the two players makes the possibility of cooperation maximization,and the possibility of cooperation between the two players increases when the costs paid by the two players for the cooperation and the difference between the excess income distribution and the betrayal income are positively correlated.(3)The co-opetition relationship between the telecommunications equipment vendors and the system integrators in the telecom network infrastructure subsystem.Due to the technical complexity of the telecom network infrastructure,the mobile network operators bid for the equipment and services required in the construction of the network infrastru cture,and the equipment vendors and system integrators that have the quality bid the project and cooperate to complete the project.But there also is conflict between the two players,combining the niche theory,this paper analyzes the niche overlap and the degree of competition and cooperation between equipment vendors and system integrators.Base on the Lotka-Volterra,this paper model the development processes of equipment vendors and system integrators under different relationship,and simulate it.It is found that when the two players are in a mutually beneficial symbiotic relationship,the development of them is better than the development degree under the natural state;When the two players are in a competitive relationship,the development of both is limited.(4)The competition and cooperation between mobile network operators and service providers in the telecommunication service subsystem.Consumer demand for telecomcommunication services are satisfied with not only voice communication,but tends to pursue experiential consumption.This requires mobile network operators to cooperate with service providers to provide diversified and personalized telecommunication services.Since telecom network infrastructure are the carriers of telecommunication service,this enables mobile network operators and service providers to exhibit three modes of cooperation: garden wall mode,dumb-pipeline mode and dual channel mode.In fact,the garden wall mode and the dumb-pipeline mode are two extreme cases of the dual channel mode.Through the Stackelberg game model,whether the mobile network operators provided with alternative services or not,this paper analyzes the price strategy and profit of mobile network opeartors and service providers.Specially,this paper considers the influence of substitution effect.(5)Research on the synergy mechanism of multi-agent of the telecommunications industry chain from the overall perspective.The vertical players of the telecommunications industry chain form a complex multi-agent symbiosis system through competitioncooperation-synergy.Actually,it has the characteristics of complex adaptive systems,and there is nonlinear interaction and feedback among the agents in the system.By introducing system dynamics,this paper analyzes the dynamic changes of the system effectively,it explains how the vertical players' relationship evolve form competition to cooperation and ultimately tend to synergy under the action of different factors.Through synergy effect,telecommunications industry chain realizes synergistic value creation.In fact,the synergetic value is the added-value which formed based on complementarity and integration among the players.From the theoretical level,it is found that the synergy mechanism of the telecommunications industry chain is mainly embodied in six aspects: strategic synergy,organizational synergy,technical synergy,resource synergy,interest synergy,and institutional synergy.These six aspects are actually six in one,and they form a coupling and interaction relationship,which are mutually conditional and reinforcing.In order to achieve the synergy of the vertical players of the industry chain,in practice,from the perspective of the players and the industry-related management departments,this paper puts forward some suggestions to realize the vertical coordination of the industrial chain.
