| The child passenger safety (CPS) program was implemented from summer of 2014 to spring of 2015. The CPS program focused on creating and sustaining a lasting CPS resource in an impoverished rural community in the Midwestern U.S. The purpose of the program was to increase the safety of children in the community by increasing the safety of children in vehicles by improving proper CPS device selection, installation, and fitting. To meet this need of the community, a CPS program was created and implemented. During that time, local ECFE teachers were certified as CPS technicians, a community CPS education class was developed, and three CPS device check events were scheduled. A total of two CPS device check events were held, and three community CPS education classes were held. During the implementation period, 16 CPS devices were checked, 13 had at least one error, and seven devices were replaced. |
