Abstract/Summary:
Violent incidents in the workplace results in negative consequences to both the individuals involved as well as the organization as a whole. While there is a considerable body of research that identifies the desired behaviors in the workplace and the positive correlation with both personal and organizational success, very little attention is paid to acts of violence between employees. The study investigated the effectiveness of workplace violence prevention strategies utilizing qualitative research through the grounded theory approach. It is the intention of the researcher that the results of this study will determine what constitutes effective prevention, and develop a theory for organizations to use in development of programs to promote a safe and secure workplace.
