Using the spatial ability measures of mental rotation, spatial perception, and spatial visualization and a measure of personality, the researcher sought to determine if these measures could be used to predict professional competency among those who use geospatial technology in their job. The researcher administered the tests to full-time volunteers who had been in their current jobs for more than a year, had their current supervisors for more than six months, utilized geospatial technology as part of their job duties, and worked within a 100-mile radius of the research site. The researcher found a moderately significant relationship between job competency and spatial visualization.
