The area of computer engineering, where the objective of the engineer is to find the best estimated reliability for the system that he/she has designed, is the topic of this dissertation. Two systems are studied. The first is a system that has I components that are connected in series. The second system is a system that has two subsystems that are connected in a series, and each subsystem has two components connected in parallel. It is customary for engineers to use balanced designs to find the best estimated reliability for such systems. In this dissertation, three sequential sampling schemes are presented and shown to be nearly optimal both theoretically and through Monte Carlo simulation.
