This study addressed the preparation of middle school teachers in a large school district in the Southeastern United States. The researcher attempted to determine if middle level teachers who held a middle level degree were more effective middle school teachers than those holding a secondary or elementary education degree. The researcher also sought to determine undergraduate education majors' attitudes towards middle level preparation. The results indicated that undergraduate education majors see a need for middle level teachers to have middle level preparation, but the majority of undergraduate majors do not desire to teach middle school. |
