HUMANISTIC EDUCATION AS IT RELATES TO MIDDLE SCHOOL EDUCATION (TRANSESCENT, ADOLESCENT (PRE), KNOWLEDGE SHARING)

Abstract/Summary:
Purpose. The purposes of this research project in lieu of a dissertation were: (a) to establish a connection between humanistic interpersonal skills, and middle school education, (b) to develop a multi-media presentation which illustrated the connection, and (c) to provide materials for application of the study.;The review of literature was used to establish the criteria for the qualities of humanistic education as they related to middle school education. Field research afforded the writer interaction with people involved in humanistic education and/or middle school education. Several audiences shared in the viewing and critiquing of a multi-media presentation. The audiences' input along with data gathered through other educational resources was recorded and used for systematic feedback into the research project and multi-media presentation.;Conclusions and Recommendations. This project in lieu of dissertation and multi-media presentation provides information and a concrete illustration regarding the connection between humanistic education and middle school education. Information gathered and the resulting presentation provide guidance for further study of these topics. In conclusion, there is a need to facilitate interpersonal skills of caring, sharing, and respect for the individual within the middle school The writer recommends implementation of the ideas that resulted from this research project by educators and others within their middle school and/or humanistic education involvement.;Methods. This research project involved a variety of educational resources which included: a review of literature, field research, middle school age students, colleagues, parents, and multi-media techniques.
