Job satisfaction of technical teachers in Thailan

Abstract/Summary:
This study examined the differences between technical teachers of Rajamangala Institute of Technology and King Mongkut's Institute of Technology in Bangkok, Thailand, relative to job satisfaction. Also examined was the relationship between the personal, educational, and professional characteristics of the technical teachers in regard to job satisfaction and turnover.;Technical teachers from Rajamangala Institute of Technology (RIT), North Bangkok campus, Nowthaburi campus, Bangkok campus, King Mongkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok (KMITNB), Thonburi campus (KMITT), and Ladgrabang campus (KMITL) were surveyed. Data for this study were collected from a sample of 300 full-time technical teachers. A total of 233 questionnaires were returned. The surveyed employed the short-form of the Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire, the demographic data questionnaire, and open-ended questionnaire.;The differences between RIT and KMIT technical teachers related to the 12 intrinsic and extrinsic variables and general job satisfaction was analyzed using mean, standard deviation and t-test. The relationship among the personal, educational, and professional characteristics and job satisfaction was analyzed utilizing analysis of variance (ANOVA). The open-ended questionnaires were grouped using percentages to classify the difference of grouping.;The intrinsic, extrinsic, and general job satisfaction means for RIT technical teachers were significantly greater than for KMIT technical teachers. Many of the statistics that pertained to the relationship among the intrinsic, extrinsic, and general job satisfaction variables and the demographic variables were significant, and means for RIT were significantly greater than for KMIT.
