Abstract/Summary:
The business environment changes and manufacturers' efforts to understand the suppliers markets, and their prices structures are increasing. A vast number of Internet platforms support these activities. Decision makers have problems differentiating and thus selecting which sourcing platform can provide best results. To increase probability of success, we believe decision-makers should listen to their organization's needs and constraints as opposed to platform providers' information.; This dissertation proposes a literature review on procurement, supply chain management and Internet technologies; their developments and applications. Furthermore, a strategic and tactic model of Internet procurement platform selection is presented.; This model uses Six Sigma tools, the classic procurement process and a simple multi-attribute scoring model to framework the decision making process. The model is structured in five major steps: define, measure, analyse, improve and control.; To illustrate the model, a case study of a Canadian corporation, Bombardier Inc, Transportation group, is presented.
