Abstract/Summary:
Various techniques using supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) and supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) were developed for the analysis of nitro- and nitroso-containing compounds. A chemiluminescence detector, the thermal energy analyzer (TEA), was coupled with SFC for the analysis of explosives and propellants and the tobacco specific nitrosamines in environmental tobacco smoke (ETS). SFE/gas chromatography with a thermal desorption modulator was coupled with the TEA for the analysis of explosives in soil. SFC was also coupled with the Salmonella typhimurium mutagenicity bioassay to determine the mutagenic behavior of ETS and a sample of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.;A method for generating mixed mobile phases from organic liquids and liquid CO...
