Abstract/Summary:
In this study, the author seeks to increase transformational leadership qualities in the Reality family of churches through an innovative instructional design process and a training curriculum informed by leaders' contexts and expressed needs. The Reality family of churches is a growing, tight-knit family of missional congregations in the United States and London, England. Intentional, adaptive, systematic leadership training is needed to foster a culture of mission and to address leadership scarcity.;Part I contains a review of precedent literature that identifies the need for intentional and adaptive training anchored in the missio Dei, informed by transformational leadership theory, and developed through instructional design processes and innovative practices. Part II contains descriptions of field research conducted both inside and outside of the Reality family of churches. Inside Reality, analysis was conducted of leaders' felt training needs and contexts. Outside of Reality, analysis was conducted with training practitioners to explore innovative components of training design beneficial to growing organizations and complex environments. Part III contains discussion of findings and conclusions of field research. Part IV contains recommendations for an innovative instructional design and change process for bringing the training design to delivery.
