Abstract/Summary:
Concerns in the commercial truck industry has shifted from moving freight to challenges in security related to theft and terrorism. In this research the author explores security aspects in commercial trucks which have been constantly overlooked by the industry and government. The industry is defined by more than heavy truck transport; it also involves local delivery, sales, leasing and rental. The author explored the correlations between types of industry and what is done to help secure the nation. The results show that the industry as a whole fails to consider terrorism as an issue which should be kept in the forefront of their transactions. The results indicate that the industry has several vulnerable points, which will require a change in culture to remain sustainable, safe and secure.
