In this paper, the main aquifers and their conditions of recharge, runoff and discharge inShanmian coalfield have been studied. According to the water hazards data, the main waterhazards are sandstone water from the roof and karst water from the floor. The Ordovician Karstfissure water from the floor is the research emphasis. By using the method of three maps and twopredictions, the water inrush condition of sandstone water from the roof has been analyzed and thewater inflow has been calculated. By using the method of Vulnerability Index (VI), the waterinrush conditions of Taiyuan Formation and Ordovician Karst aquifer have been evaluated andanalyzed. The results show that the sandstone water from the roof and the Taiyuan Formation karstwater have limited influence as long-term drainage and lower water level. The key point anddifficulty of mining control is how to prevent the water inrush from the Ordovician aquifer.According to the risking zoning, some suggestions are put forward, such as, the managementshould be strengthened, the dynamic observation system should be perfected, the drainagecapacity should be enlarged, the floor should be strengthened, comprehensive geophysicalprospecting should be carried out.
