As the largest developing country,China has experienced rapid economic development, and environmental problems have become increasingly prominent, especially the PM2.5 pollution problem.Since 2013,frequent PM2.5 pollution weather across the country has severely affected residents'physical and mental health, production, and lifestyle.China's economic development has entered a"new normal".Accelerating the transformation of economic development mode, optimizing the industrial structure, and reducing pollutant emissions are the critical path for the coordinated development of China's economy and the environment. Therefore,a comprehensive understanding of China's industrial structure adjustment impact on PM2.5 pollution has both theoretical and practical significance. This paper firstly builds a theoretical framework model of the industrial structure adjustment impact on PM2.5pollution.Secondly,based on relevant statistical data, this paper describes the current situation of China's industrial structure and PM2.5 pollution. The spatial spillover effects of the industrial structure's adjustment within and between regions on PM2.5 pollution are analyzed using the spatial economics model and the geographically weighted regression model. Then combined with the social network analysis method, the industrial relevance effect of industrial structure adjustment on PM2.5 pollution is empirically tested. Finally, the panel threshold effect model is introduced to discuss the nonlinear impact of China's industrial structure adjustment on PM2.5 pollution. In turn,it provides suggestions for China's industrial structure adjustment to control PM2.5pollution.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)The impact of industrial structure adjustment on China's PM2.5 pollution has significant spatial dependence and heterogeneity.Based on the exploratory spatial data analysis method,it is found that the upgrading of the industrial structure has spatial radiation effects;China's PM2.5 pollution has spatial spillover effects.Using the geographically weighted regression model,it is found that the adjustment of industrial structure in the eastern, central, and western regions of China has a significant heterogeneous impact on PM2.5 pollution. In the eastern region, industrial structure upgrading and rationalization have the effect of reducing PM2.5 pollution;in the central area, only the rationalization of industrial structure has the effect of lowering PM2.5pollution;the adjustment of industrial structure in the western region has no significant impact on PM2.5 pollution.Compared with previous research on environmental pollution from a spatial perspective, most of the research aims to spillover effects within regions. On this basis, this article further studies the spillover effects of the industrial structure between two heterogeneous regions with constructing an interregional geographic weight matrix. The spatial econometric model analysis found that industrial structure upgrading has a positive spatial spillover effect on PM2.5pollution between the east-central and central-west regions. In contrast, the industrial structure's rationalization between the east-central,east-west,and central-west areas has significant adverse spatial spillover effects.(2)The industrial structure adjustment has a significant industry linkage effect on China's PM2.5pollution.Basing on the industrial linkage theory and the revised gravity model, the PM2.5 pollution industrial linkage network is constructed. It is found that compared with the linkage density in 2008,the industry linkage density of the PM2.5pollution and its spillover relationship decreased in 2018.And China's joint prevention and control coordinated governance policies were beginning to show the effects.China's PM2.5 pollution industrial linkage network's overall characteristics showed low density and high robustness, there were many industry correlation channels, the network structure was relatively complete, the network level was flat, and the influence of the correlation spillover of the PM2.5 pollution industry between regions was direct.Using the QAP analysis method to study the impact of industrial structure adjustment on PM2.5 pollution under industrial linkages,it is found that the greater the degree of industrial structure adjustment, the stronger the negative effect of industrial structure adjustment on PM2.5 pollution(the weaker the positive effect).(3)The impact of industrial structure adjustment on China's PM2.5 pollution is different at different stages of developing the primary industry and the secondary industry, and there is a nonlinear(threshold effect)characteristic.Based on the expanded STIRPAT model and the panel threshold model,it is found that the effect of industrial structure upgrading on PM2.5 pollution is only affected by the primary industry. When the proportion of the primary industry is greater than the threshold, the industrial structure upgrading has the effect of reducing PM2.5 pollution. The effect of industrial structure rationalization on PM2.5 pollution is affected by the primary and secondary industries'development stage. When the proportion of the primary industry crosses the first threshold, the rationalization of the industrial structure has a PM2.5pollution-increasing effect. And when the proportion of the primary industry exceeds the second the threshold value, the rationalization of the industrial structure has the effect of reducing PM2.5 pollution. When the proportion of the secondary industry is lower than the threshold value, the rationalization of the industrial structure can reduce PM2.5 pollution.(4)Resource dependence and technological innovation are factors that influence the effect of industrial structure on PM2.5 pollution.According to the"standard structure"theory and the leading industry theory, with heterogeneous technological development as a threshold variable and resource dependence as a cross-term,a panel threshold model of the impact of industrial structure on PM2.5 pollution is constructed. And it is found that resource dependence distorts the impact of industrial adjustment on PM2.5 pollution. The progress of environmental protection technology, one of the heterogeneous technological innovations, can correct the distorting effect of resource dependence on industrial structure adjustment. The development of energy-saving technology to a certain extent leads to the appearance of the PM2.5 pollution-increasing effect of industrial structure adjustment. The above content provides a further reference for supporting policies surrounding the adjustment of regional industrial structure. Finally, based on empirical research, this paper proposes the industrial structure adjustment policies to reduce PM2.5 pollution from the single-region and regional joint levels.
