The occurrence of construction change will cause the change of engineering cost,quality and schedule,thus construction change controlling is one of the important contents of construction project management.Building Information Modelling(BIM)and Integrated Project Delivery(IPD)are more and more popular both in research and application in the field of construction engineering in recent years.As a new project delivery mode,the promotion of IPD,with the application of BIM technology provides new operation idea for the effective control and efficient management of construction change.This thesis analyzed the key points of construction change controlling and management elements in the implementation process of BIM and IPD based projects.By combining the change controlling work with the management elements of BIM technology and IPD mode,the thesis focused on the establishment of construction change controlling model for BIM-based IPD projects.The model was built to calculate the construction change efficiency,using data envelopment analysis(DEA)method.This thesis carried out the following research work.1.Building the construction change controlling model for BIM and IPD based projects.The research background is the diversified development status of BIM tools in different professional fields and application depths,and the development characteristics of IPD mode which is still in pilot stage,and encouraging the promotion of "IPD like" projects.This thesis focused on the management problem of "construction change controlling",analyzed the relation between core management elements of BIM-based IPD project and the project's construction change controlling results.Focusing on the effectiveness of input and the maximization of output,the production function model of "management elements-construction change controlling" was built,which provided a numerical method to calculate the construction change controlling efficiency of BIMbased IPD projects.2.Analyzing the inputs and outputs of the construction change controlling model.By key literature analyzing,this thesis summarized the management elements of BIM technology and IPD mode.These elements together constitute to the input of construction change controlling.In addition,these elements can be classified into quantifiable technical elements and non-quantifiable organizational elements.For those non-quantifiable organizational elements,this thesis proposed to use social network analysis(SNA)method to model and analyze the organizational characteristics when a project was conducting construction change controlling,and then obtained the organizational characteristics as quantitative expression.The quantified technical elements and organizational elements of BIM technology and IPD mode were used as the input indicators of production function model.In addition,this thesis focused on the analysis and research of the working content and the form of expression of construction change controlling.The "expression form of construction change controlling" were used as the output indicator after data processing.3.Solving the construction change controlling model.In view of the characteristics of "multi input and output" in construction change controlling of BIM-based IPD projects,this thesis proposed to use DEA to solve the production function model for construction change controlling efficiency measurement.The thesis explored the principle and modeling steps of the basic DEA method and super efficiency DEA method.4.Doing the case study.After establishing the model,this thesis also explored the case study planning and data collecting methods.Then,the case study for five engineering projects with different BIM and IPD applications was carried out.The case data were used for operating the construction change controlling efficiency model.The model calculated the relative efficiency of construction change controlling in five cases.The thesis then proposed suggestions for improvement or optimization of construction change control and organization management in five projects.5.Putting forward suggestions for construction change controlling.This thesis put forward suggestions on how to improve construction change controlling with regard to the following three aspects,in the field of architecture,engineering & construction(AEC)industry,specific project which is undertaking construction change controlling,and the organizational relationship in construction change controlling.Based on the above research work,this thesis drew the following conclusions.(1)The construction change controlling model constructed by DEA method could be effectively applied to BIM and IPD based projects.The model ran well in the relative evaluation of the construction change controlling efficiency.(2)The results calculated in the model can be used to provide each project the direction for improvement in pursuit of better construction change controlling efficiency,and be used to provide reference for the selection of BIM and IPD elements in each project.(3)The application of SNA method modeled the organization relationship.The quantitative indicators of organizational characteristics in each project were analyzed,and they provided some numerical input indicators for the DEA based construction change controlling model.The characteristics and status of the participants in each organizational network can also be analyzed,which was helpful for the project managers to understand the characteristics of each participant.(4)In order to better conduct construction change controlling,this thesis put forward the following suggestions,to comprehensively promote the application of BIM technology and IPD mode in AEC industry,to choose certain suitable BIM technology and IPD elements in specific projects,and to optimize the organizational relationship of the participants in the construction change controlling.The innovations of the thesis include:(1)Taking the lead in the research of construction change controlling for "IPD like" projects and projects which use BIM technology only in some certain project phrases or fields.Aiming at improving the efficiency of change controlling,this thesis provided references for choosing BIM and IPD management elements for various projects.(2)Puting forward a new method to evaluate the efficiency of construction change controlling,focusing on the input effectiveness and output optimization,and establishing a DEA evaluation model based on the idea of production function.(3)Attempting to use case investigation and SNA method to quantify the organizational management elements and the expression of construction change controlling,which provides a reference for defining and quantifying unspecific input and output factors in DEA production function model.
