"Guanzi" Taoist Thought Research

?Guan-tzu?is a political work of the Pre-Qin Period, including political,economic,and philosophical essays. Most of scholars think that?Guan-tzu?is not a book writtened by one person nor in one period since Jin dynasty and Tang dynasty, so the researches on?Guan-tzu?are mainly bitty,not systemic.Of course, other people do not think so.They believe that?Guan-tzu?is a systemic book that its predominant idea is the theory of Legalists of Qi.?Research on The Doctrine of Tao-Law of <Guan-tzu>?agrees the later opinion.I mainly discuss the Doctrine of Tao-Law of?Guan-tzu?in the Four Chapters in this thesis.In Chapter 1, Firstly, I anatomize the core concepts of "Tao"in?Lao-tzu?and?Guan-tzu?, and prove that the "Tao" in?Guan-tzu?developed the "Tao" in?Lao-tzu?,its core idea is the theory of "Jing-Qi". Secondly,I reveal"Jing-Qi"further its theoretical structures. At last, I establish firmly the order of the universe "Yin-Yang and the Five Elements " of?Guan-tzu?through the Nature of "Jing-Qi".In Chapter 2, The Practice and Application of the theory of Jing-Qi is.the anthroposophy of?Guan-tzu?. The gist in this chapter is to discuss how did the theory of Jing-Qi put into effect by politics and human life. Its work of Self-cultivation is to equally stress on both Cultivating Mind and Cultivating Body. As to the political ideal is to be in possession of both Emperor's morality and Emperor's skills as well as methods.In Chapter 3,the theory of rule by law in?Guan-tzu?shows its pragmatic concerns.I mainly discuss the content and characteristic of the theory of rule by law in?Guan-tzu?.It includes that the Emperor should govern the country by the method of morality and the penalty, by the way of the law and the rite.In Chapter 4,I finally probe into the content of the methodology of?Guan-tzu?.?Guan-tzu?shows the dialectical thoughts of "Jing-Yin"as the nature of "Tao"and"Jing-Qi" and the meothod of rule of law.And then build the philosophic scope according to the political thoughts of Wu-Wei.
