| "HongMing Ji"?????),which is written by Seng You of the Southern Liang Dynasty,has 14 volumes,about 130,000 words,and contains 191 articles from 125 writers of the Eastern Han Dynasty to Qi and Liang era,covering over 300 years.It is the first compilation of literature on the protection and propaganda of Buddhism in the history of Buddhism.The authors of HongMing Ji(?????)consist mainly of scholars and local famous monks,reflecting the arguments of the social elite and intellectual elite at the time on a series of issues related to Buddhism.It is a product of "Scholar Buddhism" and a valuable material with moderate amount and clear age for the study of Middle Chinese vocabulary.This article introduces the formation,content,research status,and material characteristics of HongMing Ji(?????)and focuses on the research value,vocabulary characteristics,Buddhist words and allusion words of that.The thesis illustrates the value of vocabulary research in HongMing Ji(?????)from three aspects:the study of Chinese history,the compilation of dictionaries and the collation of texts.It points out that it can supplement the "Chinese Dictionary" with uncollected entries?improve relevant interpretations?advance and supplement the documentary evidence,and provide guidance and help for the collation of HongMing Ji(?????).HongMing Ji(?????)contains abundant polysyllabic words,characteristic allusions and large proportion of Buddhist words.In general,the coexistence of ancient and emerging quality,classical words and colloquial words are the basic features of the vocabulary of HongMing Ji(?????)and many Buddhist words and allusions are the prominent feature of its language.From the perspective of the age of generation,there are both inherited words from the ancient words and new words and new meanings from the Middle Ages in HongMing Ji(?????),which embodies the unity of language stability,development and change.In terms of material properties,there are elegant classical words and colloquial words in HongMing Ji(?????),but the proportion of classical words is greater.In this thesis,the Buddhist words and expressions in Hongming Ji are investigated from the sources as well as the generation and evolution of meaning.It is pointed out that the Buddhist words are mainly composed of transliterated words,free translation words,and semi-syllable and semi-translated words,however,it is mainly based on free translation words,that the meaning of Buddhist words derives mainly from injecting Buddhist meaning into native words and from rhetoric means,and that the development of the meaning of Buddhist words are mainly manifested in the expansion and transfer of meaning.The thesis investigates the allusion words in the HongMing Ji(?????)and discusses the source,the form and the semantic features of allusion words..The thesis points out that there are many allusions in HongMing Ji(?????),so there are four main ways of forming allusions:direct interception,recombination of selected characters,recombination of characters and repetition of titles.The meaning of allusion words is multi-dimensional and dependent on the source of the allusion so as to contain rich cultural connotations.A systematic survey of Buddhist words and allusion words in HongMing Ji(?????)helps to reveal the linguistic characteristics of itself,and to investigate the rules of Chinese vocabulary development. |
