A Study Of Allusion Words Involving Women

On the ground of studying more than three thousand of Allusion words recorded in the extant literature,The author excerpts and research on Allusion words about women.Limited by the times and social reality,the female characters in allusion words come from three classes:celestial being and ghost,governing class of nobility and poor people.In ancient society, traditional gender roles confine women to the domestic sphere,They take on the role of daughters, wives and mothers.The mainstream concept reflected in female literary allusion has inherited the traditional value orientation and embody the male’s appreciation and pursuit of woman’s chastity.there is not any academic research on female literary allusion.This paper not only study the origin and lexicalization of female allusion, but also attempts to discuss the social culture in female literary allusion.The text is made up of six chapters as following:Chapter one not only defines the research object,but also gives an overview of current researches.According to the previous academic achievements,the author determined the research content and research methods on this topic.Chapter two investigates the female allusion sources. On the basis of tracing the source of literary allusion,we make statistical analysis of allusion words from the perspective of historical epoch and earliest literature’s category.Chapter three constructs the lexicalization of female allusion words.According to the relationship between female allusion expressions and statement in the source document, the Allusion words can be divided into three categories:First, the allusion words are words or phrases in the source document, which have direct syntax and semantic Associations.Second, the allusion words come from a sentence, or a few sentences in the source document.Third,the allusion words are derived from the summary of the contents of the source texts.Based on this, the author has conceived three ways of lexical approach.Chapter four is the semantic analysis of female allusion words.On the one hand, the author points out the three characteristics of female literary allusion’s meaning.On the other hand,We pay more attention to the receiver’s cognitive system functioning in the process of understanding allusion words by using conceptual integration theory to interpret the meaning of female allusion words.Chapter five focus on the culture of female allusion words.It discovers politics, patriarchal clan, ideology, daily work and cultural contents that exist in Chinese female allusion words.Chapter six is a conclusion of the whole thesis and limitation of the study as well as the suggestions for future research are stated.
