Reaserch On The Revision And Enlargement From Sisheng Pianhai To Xiangjiao Pianhai

Sisheng Pianhai(??????),which was compiled by Han Xiaoyan(???)early and recomposed by Han Daozhao(???)finally in Jin dynasty,takes a position in the history of the dictionaries by its compiling advantages including simplified radicals,phonetics retrieval and arrangement of strokes.With the development of the times,the progress of language research,the deficiency of compiling style and content in Sisheng Pianhai is becoming sharper and sharper.In the end of the Ming dynasty,Zhao Qintang(???)and Li Deng(??)proofreaded and filled Sisheng Pianhai and the name was changed to Xiangjiao Pianhai(??????)finally.Compared to the old one,This book is reasonable in style and comprehensive in content.There is a lot of improvement in editing style and comment content.Wang Chongmin(???)(1983)commented on the book:"Before Zihui and Zhengzitong being popular,this is the most popular dictionary."The book had practical value at that time."The vocabulary of Sisheng Pianhai was too vast and the content was insufficient." which was said by Li Deng in the preface of Xiangjiao Pianhai.To simplify the vocabulary and enrich the nnotations is the motive for the compilation of Xiangjiao Pianhai,and also the purpose of its compilation.This paper discusses the inheritance and evolution from Sisheng Pianhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai on compilation concepts and style,phonetic notation,definitions and character pattern analysis,etc,and then research on the advanced concept,the shortage and the influence to the dictionaries of later ages in the revision and enlargementThe paper consists of six chapters:The first chapter is:introduction,which explains the original meaning,research method and content.Moreover,the author classified the relevant literatures of the study of Sisheng Pianhai and the study of Xiangjiao Pianhai.The second chapter is:the compilation of Xiangjiao Pianhai and its relationship with Sisheng Pianhai Xiangjiao Pianhai,written in mid and late Ming,had its inevitability and chanciness.Section one of this chapter comes to the development of social economy and culture and the atmosphere of textology,in order to show clearly the background characteristic of times of Xiangjiao Pianhai.In addition,the biography of Zhao Qintang and Li Deng,and the spread and related versions of the book are also briefly described.The third chapter is:reaserch on the revision and enlargement of phonetic notation from Sisheng Pianhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai.This chapter is the second key point of the research.The gloss style of "first phonetic notation and post definition"initiated by Yupian has been used in the later generations.This chapter first expounds general situation of phonetic notation of Sisheng Pianhai and Xiangjiao Pianhai,including the style and reference of phonetic notation.And then reaserches on the revision and enlargement of phonetic notation from Sisheng Pianhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai.The book of Xiangjiao Pianhai had chaned the old phonetic concept and style,and its the phonetic method is used to carry out the two-part phonetic sound by fanqie and zhiyin.The phonetic notation presented the characteristics of the regional pronunciation in Ming.The fourth chapter is:reaserch on the revision and enlargement of definitions from Sisheng Pianhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai.This chapter is the third key point of the research.Explanation follows phonetic notation in dictionary.This chapter first expounds general situation of phonetic notation of Sisheng Pianhai and Xiangjiao Pianhai,including the style and reference of definitions.And then reaserches on the revision and enlargement of definitions from Sisheng Pianhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai,including revision and enlargement of definition,adding and making arrangements for quotation.In last we analyze and summary the characteristics and shorage of the definitions in Xiangjiao Pianhai.The fourth chapter is:reaserch on the revision and enlargement of character pattern analysis from Sisheng Pianhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai.This chapter is also one of the key points of the research.Chinese characters are the combination of pattern,pronunciation and meaning.The dictionary is not just for phonetic notation and definitions,but also for pattern analysis,including radicals in Chinese characters,differentiation and analysis in Chinese characters pattern and indication in variant Chinese characters.This chapter first expounds general situation of character pattern analysis of Sisheng Pianhai and Xiangjiao Pianhai,including general situation of character pattern analysis of the dictionaries before the Ming dynasty and the influnce of the philology of the Ming dynasty on Xiangjiao Pianhai.And then reaserches on the revision and enlargement of character pattern analysis by three parts,including"vocabulary reduction and radicals readjust","pattern analysis revision" and "variant Chinese characters indication and connection".In last we analyze and reveal the concept of character pattern analysis of Xiangjiao Pianhai.The sixth chapter is:conclusion.The revision and enlargement from Sisheng Piarhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai could had made its advancement and missing.This chapter mainly analyzes the values and limitations of the revision and enlargement from Sisheng Pianhai to Xiangjiao Pianhai,and reveals the progress of the phonetic notations,definitions and character pattern analysis in Xiangjiao Pianhai and their influnece upon later generations emphatically.
