SiSheng PianHai is a dictionary edited by Han Xiaoyan and his son Han Daozhao in Jin Dynasty, which contains the most entries of the dictionary in the Chinese history. This dictionary preserves a lot of valuable materials borrowed from dictionary that are no longer exlant. Therefore, it is of great value. But,there are many mistakes in its allusion to other dictionaries, along with the fact that it has not been reprinted since the Ming Dynasty and consequently few scholars refer it, its use is greatly affected, and it also exerts some regative influence on the later dictionaries.This thesis, guided by the study of Chinese language and characters and the theory of textual criticism, by the comparison between the allusion to YuPian in SiSheng PianHai and Da Guang Yi Hui YuPian , devides the mistakes in its allusion to Yu Plan into three aspects: in the orthography, pronunciation and meaning explanation, each category discussed in several subcategories by examples, and approaches the regative influence of these mistakes on the HanYu Da ZiDian and the ZhongHua Zi Hai...
