The Study Of Bird And Flower Paintings On Paper In Song Dynasty

This study mainly discusses the paper flower-and-bird paintings of the Song Dynasty,aiming at clarifying the motivations of these artists in choosing paper materials that are different from the mainstream silk paintings,so as to bring about the differences for the paintings.This paper discusses the significance of flower-and-bird paintings in new materials to the upper royal family and literati in song Dynasty.And it also observes what kind of social system and social productivity is the basis of this aesthetic change,and how it will further affect the aesthetic taste after the Song Dynasty.This paper has three chapters.The first chapter tells the history of paper and its application in song Dynasty painting and calligraphy.This chapter studies the principle of different effects produced by paper and other materials,and then compares silk and paper through microscope experiments,enumerates and sorts out the image Chronicles of painting works,and analyzes the new characteristics brought by materials.Chapter two studies representative authors and works.These authors,such as Zhao Ji,Muxi,Zhao Chang and Huichong belong to different social classes,which enables us to fully understand the reasons and opportunities for the transformation of paper paintings in the Song Dynasty.Through the comparison of these works,this chapter analyzes the changes in color,composition,shape,speed,line,color and handling of flower-and-bird paintings on paper and on silk.The third chapter explores the formation of the aesthetic taste of paper flower-and-bird paintings in song Dynasty.Firstly,under the Song culture,the interest of "literati" as the core of aesthetics is formed.Secondly,the purpose of creation breaks through realism and surpasses reproduction.This chapter explains the artists living in the Song Dynasty,how they choose between this watershed,and how they are influenced by this choice,thus contributing to the transformation of aesthetic taste.This paper makes a comparative analysis of a large number of detailed drawings of works,collates the Song Dynasty paper flowerand-bird paintings' diagrams and appendices,and by comparing the handdrawn illustrations with the details of works,recovers the details of the painting process,and combines various documents to restore the selection of materials by artists of all levels under the circumstances of the Song Dynasty,in an attempt to approach the truth of the history more than a thousand years ago.In addition to the discussion of various specific historical materials and ideas,this paper also presents the picture effect produced when the original author did not choose paper,so as to restore the originality and motivation of those familiar works.The author hopes to explore the milestone of aesthetic transformation in ancient Chinese painting through practice.
