Research By Ren Baitao, A Journalist During The Republic Of China

Ren Baitao,known as Hong Tao,once used the pen names Lenggong and Yibi.He was from Nanyang,Henan Province.He began to devote himself to journalism during the period of 1911,and then devoted himself to the academic research of journalism.He was the author of the first practical Journalism(Applied Journalism)in China,and also one of the representatives of modern journalism research in China.Focusing on the "journalist" Ren Baitao,this paper systematically discusses Ren Baitao's news practice activities,news academic activities,news thoughts and anti Japanese news propaganda,so as to objectively and comprehensively present Ren Baitao's character image in the period of the Republic of China.At the same time,it is hoped that this exploration can be helpful to the study of the history of journalism in the Republic of China,especially the history of news figures.According to the logical order of total score total,the paper mainly covers three parts.The first part is the first chapter,which mainly discusses Ren Baitao's life course and social environment.Combined with the specific background of the times,this chapter makes a general summary of Ren Baitao's life course with time as the axis.This paper presents Ren Baitao's life experiences in Nanyang,Kaifeng,Shanghai,Tokyo,Chongqing,Enshi and other places,and emphatically reveals Ren Baitao's life pursuit,ideals and beliefs in a specific historical period,as well as the internal motivation for him to choose different paths.Under the influence of the times,family background,educational experience and personal characteristics,Ren baitaocai always sticks to his way as a journalist.The second part includes the second,the third,the fourth and the fifth chapters.It mainly studies Ren Baitao's journalistic practice,journalistic academic activities,journalistic ideas and anti Japanese propaganda.The second chapter systematically studies Ren Baitao's journalism practice.This chapter divides Ren Baitao's news practice into two stages: "in the period of Min Li Bao" and "in the period of new Hubei Daily".Before and after the revolution of 1911,driven by his personal interest,influenced by the social atmosphere of democracy and freedom,and dissatisfied with the rule of the warlord government,Ren Baitao resolutely devoted himself to journalism,hoping to display his personal ambition and contribute to social progress through the media of "news".During the Anti Japanese War,Ren Baitao,as the chief editor of the new Hubei Daily,once again stepped into the journalism career at the time of national crisis.He took the post of chief editor of the new Hubei Daily as a way to fulfill his ideal of "saving the country by news",which explains why he appeared in the press as a journalist within the Kuomintang system for a short time.The third chapter focuses on Ren Baitao's journalism academic activities.This chapter starts Ren Baitao's journalism academic activities from two aspects of "in Japan" and "in China",focusing on the important activities such as studying abroad in Waseda University,participating in the Greater Japan journalism society,and founding the China Journalism society.It holds that Ren Baitao is trying to build a systematic journalism,Ren Baitao's journalistic academic research activities play an important role in promoting the construction and development of journalism in early China.The fourth chapter mainly studies Ren Baitao's journalism thought.This chapter focuses on Ren Baitao's news thought from four aspects: news business thought,news education thought,news ethics thought and news public opinion thought.Ren Baitao's news thought embodies the following characteristics: first,the combination of China and foreign countries,with localization as the pursuit;second,absorption as the starting point,with system establishment as the goal;third,emphasis on reporter responsibility,with Public Service as the purpose.Ren Baitao's journalistic thoughts are not only influenced by the spirit of traditional Chinese Confucian culture,but also draw lessons from and absorb the Western journalistic theories and thoughts,showing a more obvious color of "Chinese style and Western application".The fifth chapter is the research of Ren Baitao's Anti Japanese news propaganda.Ren Baitao's research on Anti Japanese news propaganda is an important aspect of "the study of journalist Ren Baitao".This chapter first examines the historical background of Ren Baitao's Anti Japanese journalism research.Secondly,it studies the internal motivation of Ren Baitao's Anti Japanese news propaganda research.It holds that the fundamental motivation is to save the dangerous situation of the Chinese nation's subjugation and extermination,and the direct motivation is to resist the Japanese imperialist press aggression.Thirdly,it focuses on the main achievements of Ren Baitao's research on Anti Japanese news propaganda.During the Anti Japanese War,Ren Baitao paid special attention to the Japanese imperialist press and propaganda policy and behavior towards China,and made a detailed study.He formed his own views and opinions on the Japanese press and propaganda policy toward China,the organization and role of the international news agencies in wartime,and the press and propaganda against Japan during the Anti Japanese War,and took them as the basis of his news activities during the Anti Japanese war Basic criteria.The third part,the sixth chapter,discusses Ren Baitao's position and evaluation in the history of Chinese journalism on the basis of the research and elaboration of the first five chapters,which is the summary and sublimation of the full text.Ren Baitao loved journalism all his life.He was engaged in both journalism academic research and journalism practice.Among them,engaging in journalism academic research is Ren Baitao's main work in his life.He has made pioneering contributions in some fields of Chinese journalism,and is one of the typical journalists who pursued the ideal of journalism in the period of the Republic of China.This chapter elaborates Ren Baitao's historical contribution and status in the history of Chinese journalism from the political and academic perspectives.At the same time,it points out that due to the influence and limitation of the times and personal factors,Ren Baitao's journalism practice,journalism academic and journalism thought also have some limitations.Taking the journalist Ren Baitao as a mirror and combining history with reality can provide some enlightening and referential thoughts for the current journalism discipline and journalism theory construction.
