This paper focuses on the multi-dimensional interaction between the development of fine arts and the trend of nationalism in the Early Period of the Republic of China, and its pioneering contribution to the construction of modern Chinese fine arts.It is easy to fall into a self-evident misunderstanding in the study of this subject. Most studies of the history of Fine Arts in the Republic of China take it as a background and simply explain it,or analyze the national style of fine arts through specific categories, lack of a comprehensive analysis of the relationship between fine arts and nationalist ideological trend in the early Republic of China.Because of the influence of non-artistic factors, many artists who were once active in the art world at that time and had great influence inside and outside the industry were covered up to a certain extent, and even disappeared completely in the mainstream narration of art history in later ages.Under the influence of non-objective historical factors, the scholars who grew up in new China were subject to the analysis of ideology and the development logic of cultural modernity in the study of the cultural history of the Republic of China, facing up to the art phenomenon at that time.Based on the above points, this paper tries to grasp the fine arts and nationalism trend of thought in the early Republic of China as a whole, without giving up the details. The specific measures are: first, break through the conventional narrative framework in the study of the art history of the Republic of China, comb the historical materials of art from the interaction between the nationalist ideological trend and the art phenomenon, and reveal the factors behind the phenomenon;second, this paper discusses the relationship between Fine Arts and social and cultural trends of thought and the image of nation-state from the medium perspective under the framework of cultural history, and makes a micro-analysis of specific events as far as possible in its operation, knowledge Archeology is used to eliminate some stereotypes covered by history and renew people's understanding of the development of Chinese fine arts in this period. The concrete research contents are as follows: The first chapter aims to investigate the ideological origin and cultural field of the national consciousness in the art debate and creation practice in the early Republic of China, and to provide the basis for the following topics. The second chapter, discusses under the influence of the theory of evolution, how the fine arts scholars carry out the re-understanding of traditional Chinese painting. In the third chapter, the author analyzes the images and creative psychology of the “New Chinese Painting”,and discusses how the national characteristics of Chinese painting are reconstructed. In the Fourth Chapter, the author tries to break through the conventional western painting in the input process and how it affects the thinking of Chinese art,and explores how, under the national standard position, the Chinese native painters take the initiative to bring western painting into the tide of Chinese art development, combined with the concrete painter's case,it analyzes how the Chinese and western traditional schema language in western painting merges and passes, gradually realizes the Chinese transformation of western painting. The fifth chapter uses the research method of generalized iconology to sort out the cultural phenomena under the influence of national nationalism, such as the national logo pattern, the modern national form of urban architecture, the National Movement of sculpture, etc.,in order to find out the cultural traces hidden in the history, this paper probes into the important role of art in the image-building projects, such as the setting of national sign and the construction of public space. In this paper,we re-examine the relationship between the fine arts and the nationalist ideological trend in the early Republic of China, and obtain new knowledge in the knowledge archaeology of the original literature. The modern transformation of fine arts in the Early Period of the Republic of China was different from that of literature,in which fine arts were modified as the keynote and literature as the theme of Revolution. The reason for this difference was that fine arts had visual characteristics different from language art, restricted the transformation of the artistic noumenon form elements.2.The pen-and-ink system of Chinese literati painting, which stands out in the world of fine arts, has become a resource for artists to return to their native culture and build up their cultural confidence.3.In the early Republic of China, the development of Fine Arts and the ideological trend of nationalist politics and culture are both superficially and superficially. The first clue is that the artists consciously continue the context and pattern of Chinese fine arts in their own works and create new styles of traditional Chinese fine arts. The second clue is that the nation-state,as the main sponsor, has adopted such means as soliciting contributions and inviting tenders, employing artists to create the National Image Project Theme Art,personal motivation and national consciousness to a certain extent is the same.4.Under the background of saving the nation from extinction and struggling to think about the way out for the nation, the form change of art itself is restricted by the national discourse narration and becomes a kind of image politics. The Guardian and development of Chinese brush and ink,the pursuit of national charm in western painting, the image identification of national etiquette system, the application of Chinese elements in public buildings, and the cultural construction of urban space, has played a role in strengthening national identity.
