This research takes the school's inheritance of the Kam Grand Choirs as the study subject,so as to explore the institutional mechanism of folk music inheritance and development.Based on the materials obtained from the field survey and the author's hands-on experience, with a combination of ethnomusicology, music sociology and music pedagogy, the research concludes that, against the background of social change, the traditional village model for inheritance of Kam Grand Choirs is no longer sustainable. Therefore, focus was shifted towards inheritance via school education in the 1980s.However,the mechanical teacher-apprentice model and the teacher-student model in the mode of inheritance through school education have their own limitations, which not only cut off the ties between Kam Grand Choirs and the village culture itself, but also makes it unable to adapt to the cultural and educational needs in the market economy,Therefore,it is imperative to establish and improve the basic school-centered and multi-participant system for inheritance of Kam Grand Choirs through school education. This five-in-one system features inheritors, learners, enthusiasts, researchers, and managers, whose effective interaction has helped build the mechanism of school-Kam village coordination mechanism for inheritance of Kam Grand Choirs through school education. With such mechanism guarantee, the practical exploration of "teachers as singing masters" and "students as singers" can be conducted,so as to achieve good folk music education and teaching results, which is conducive to the cultivation of the next generation of outstanding talent with noble artistic character,high-level ethnic and cultural identity and the love for the socialist motherland. The establishment of the five-in-one system for the interitance of Kam Grand Choirs via school education provides a path and guidance for the inheritance of other Chinese folk music through school education.
