With the young faculty in universities becoming the backbone in recent years,the development of young faculty has become a strategic issue in their development.The research on the development of young faculty in universities has become a very practical research topic,which will be influenced not only by the changes of higher education environment,but also by the changes of the composition of young faculty and their internal needs.Due to the different development of universities,the development of young faculty will also show their differences.As an important part of China's higher education,local universities are facing such problems as the shortage of high-level teachers,the fact that young faculty have become the main body of the teaching staff and the transformation of universities.Whether these universities can have more core competitiveness,better sustainable development,make teaching,SR and social service work constantly up to the high level,and promote the coordinated development of regional economy and society,to a large extent,depends on the academic level of young faculty.In other words,the academic level of young faculty has a direct impact on the university-running level and development potentials,which has become an urgent core issue in the development of such universities.With China's higher education developing from a large country to a powerful country,the development of young faculty and local universities has attracted more and more attention from policy makers,theorists and practitioners.Therefore,the author fries to take the organic combination of the two as innovative points in the research perspective,doing a case study on local universities,choosing the important dimension for the development of young faculty-the developmental impetus in SR as a start.It is of great theoretical significance and value to carry out the research on the developmental impetus in SR by young faculty in universities under the transformation and innovation,whose achievements can not only enrich and expand the university-running theory of local universities,the theory of university teacher development and the theory of university management.The achievements can also be used to develop the human resources of local universities,optimize the structure of the teaching staff,improve the core competitiveness of the universities,and train and bring up innovative application-oriented talents and teams,which can provide references for the universities in strengthening their social service function and speeding up the transformation and application of SR achievements.At the same time,it can also provide valuable practical reference for the government and its educational administrative departments to make and further improve relevant decisions.This dissertation has adopted the research paradigm of“mixed method”which combines qualitative and quantitative methods while taking "theoretical analysis-questionnaire analysis-narrative study-influencing factors analysis-mechanism construction”as the research path,conducting a systematic and in-depth study on the situation of developmental impetus in SR by the young faculty in universities.The study also tries to discuss the influencing factors of the insufficient developmental impetus of the SR from young faculty in universities,and the motive strategy of promoting the SR development of young faculty in universities,so as to explore the construction of young faculty to promote the dynamic development mechanism of SR.Besides the introduction and conclusion,this dissertation mainly studies from the following five aspectsFirstly,with the help of human nature hypothesis theory,human resource management theory,New Institutionalism Theory and other theoretical perspectives,this dissertation analyzes in a general sense title relevant factors that affect the developmental impetus of university teachers' SR,and provides theoretical support for the construction of the motivation mechanism to promote the development of university teachers' SR.Secondly,taking Fujian Province as a case study,this research aims to discover the current situation of SR of young faculty in Fujian Province,to make known the differences in the SR development of young faculty among the three types of public universities in Fujian Province,namely,the key state-constructed universities,the key provincial-constructed universities and the local universities,in order to further explore the favorable factors and specific problems for the SR development of young faculty in local universities.Thirdly,using narrative approach,the research focuses on the individual academic life history of young faculty in local universities,whose purpose is to analyze the academic activities of young faculty and the stories about their work in universities in the context of the current reform of higher education in China,especially in the process of transforming the local universities into application-oriented ones,which is related to the mentality of young faculty.This part attempts to enable us not only to pay attention to the academic life world of young faculty,also to pay attention to the development of the local universities,and even to the track and context of the development of higher education in China.Fourthly,there should be corresponding incentives and institutional arrangements to provide these incentives for the developmental impetus for SR of university teachers.This part attempts to broaden the research horizon,analyzing from the government,universities,and young faculty the three levels on the in-depth causes for insufficient developmental impetus from the young faculty for SR in local universities.Finally,on the basis of previous research,the author believes that the development impetus in young faculty' SR under the background of transformation and innovation should be stimulated,which needs not only the support of external academic system and policy environment,but also the SR consciousness and practice of young faculty themselves.The construction of a developmental impetus mechanism for the SR by young faculty in local universities should be based on the three levels of government,universities and young faculty.
