A Study On The Public Opinion Guidance Of American Interest Groups From The Perspective Of Ideology

Relationship between ideology and public opinion guide is very close.As the basis of the nation,American’s ideology plays an important role in maintaining national and social stability.In fact,interest groups are one of the most important subjects in the construction of American ideology,and the guidance of public opinion is one of the most important way to construct American ideology.As an interest group,China Lobby headed by the Committee of One Million actively uses mass media and other carriers to conduct public opinion guidance.It publicizes various anti-China discourses,shapes the mainstream ideology,and advocate cold war ideology,in order to influence the U.S.policy towards China,and finally safeguard the country’s political interests and hegemonic policy.China Lobby was established with the support of the Nanjing national government.By publicizing the Chiang Kai Shek regime,provoking the debate of "who lost China",and inciting Mc Carthyism,they successfully built and propagated of cold war ideology step by step.The Committee flourished in the 1950 s.It organized signature petition campaign of one million people,launched debate on China difference and took other measures to actively guide public opinion.To some extent,it had determined the country’s public opinion orientation on China,and had also affected the US policy towards China.In the 1960 s and1970s,the organization gradually declined.Finally,it disbanded after the Communist China restored its legitimate seat in the United Nations in 1971.Looking back at the history of the Committee of One Million,they concocted all kinds of lies;mobilized multiple subjects and expand various channels to guide public opinion;monopolized news sources,suppressed other voices,etc.At present,the Cold War mentality is spreading in the United States,and we are facing grimmer challenge of the ideological infiltration.We must build a new pattern of public opinion guidance.We need to improve the international discourse power,contribute with Chinese characteristics and build consensus of the world;to link up multiple communication subjects and integrate the old and new channels;to stand firm and persist principle of struggle strategy,and expose the essence of western media and strengthen ideological and political education.
