| The study of Gifted Teenagers of Scientific and Technological Innovation(GTSTI)has been receiving less attention from the academia. It is not just related to the individual’s development, but to the improvement of the overall national comprehensive innovation capacity that to carry out the study of GTSTI.A theoretical frame for the analysis of "ecological amplitude and student community succession" has been established in this paper based on the interdisciplinary perspectives of ecology, psychology and education.By using a combined method of quantitative and qualitative study, the observation about GTSTI’s characteristics, habitat and growth paths were carried out,and a theoretical model of technical innovation talented adolescent’s research was presented. The characteristics of GTSTI and the differences between them and the rest of the population are provided by the quantitative part of the study, coupled with the Youth Innovation and Science Questionnaire(YIS)on 1075 high school students. The results show that the creativity index of GTSTI students is significantly higher than that of the control group;they have a higher level of intelligence, adventure and independent exploration in terms of personality factors.GTSTI students have a more relaxed family atmosphere and significantly lower academic performance than the control group.Aims to perceive the composition of the creativity factors of various students,a mathematical model of "creativity-related competition propensity factor" is built on the basis of the factor analysis in this paper, and its reliability and fitting degree are test by using correlation and regression analysis. The results shows that the four factor models including team factor, mood factor, dominance factor, and intelligence factor was able to describe GTSTI students(fitting degree R=0.852)and Olympiad students(fitting degree R=0.825)at 74.874%(P<0.001)and 70.496%(P<0.001)probability levels respectively. The model allows preliminary prediction of the type of competition that individuals are suitable for, providing new perspectives and methods for future selection and training of Scientific and Technological Innovation talents. The qualitative part of study is based on grounded theory and in-depth interviews with the finalists and winners of the International Science and Engineering Fair(ISEF),the highest international science and technical competition for youth,to obtain the common characteristics of the group of GTSTI from three aspects: characteristics, habitat and growth path. The result shows GTSTI exhibit strong uniqueness in behavioral patterns, personality traits, family environment, growth, motivation and positive feedback, negative feedback and confusion. The "student community succession" model established on this basis further explores the growth paths of GTSTI and corresponds with the results of the quantitative study. The conclusion of this study is generally divided into three parts.First,GTSTI,as a unique group, have great development potential.Second, school, society and family each play an irreplaceable role in their development.Third, their advantages cannot be used effectively under current system of admission examinations and talent selection.Based on literature research and interviews with senior high school science and technology teachers and directors of recruitment offices of colleges and universities,to grasp the direction of "colleges and universities recruitment" selection and secondary school training in China, and to analyze the possible impact of policy changes on the growth and development of GTSTI.It is the first large-scale empirical study on the GTSTI group in China.Based on above, relevant theories are established and the countermeasures of the perfection on the training mode of GTSTI’s capacity are presented in this paper. |
