Researches on the combination and evolution of leadership style have received increasing attention of academic circles and practice in the study of leadership.In different periods of longitudinal time,in the face of dynamic changing environment,leaders tend to flexibly adjust their leadership style and related behaviors,which is reflected in the evolution of leadership style.It is generally acknowledged that the evolution of leadership style is the leadership characteristics of leaders in order to adapt to the dynamic changing situations.In longitudinal and local specific events,leaders also present the combination of multiple leadership style.The combination helps the mutual promotion and complementarity of different leadership style,and form an effective impact on subordinates.The purpose of this research is to combine the characteristics of subordinate-oriented behavior and self-directed behavior of leadership style in the context of project life cycle,and to follow the logic chain of leadership behavior's influencing subordinate behavior by using planned behavior theory,to reveal the combination characteristics of leadership style and its effect on subordinate behavior.It is also to dissect the performance pattern and internal effect mechanism of leadership style evolution under dynamic situational pressure,and to link the combination and evolution of leadership style so as to explore the relationship,and to understand the leadership process in a comprehensive and dynamic way.This dissertation adopts the method of multi-case study,and selects typical historical cases with important enlightenment and contemporary cases based on first-hand data.In the process of the research,historical cases and contemporary cases are combined for analysis.Through embedded and longitudinal case study,it can better explore the subtle relationship among leadership style and related dimensions,and obtain more stable theoretical enlightenment.Based on the project of rebuilding the city wall by Nehemiah,the famous Jewish leader,this dissertation explores the evolution and combination characteristics of leadership style in different stages of the project life cycle.Combined with the theoretical enlightenment of historical case study,this dissertation verifies the theoretical findings based on historical cases through the multi-case study of contemporary enterprise projects in China,and further develops the theory to construct a mechanism model of leadership style combination.Through the comparative analysis of historical cases and contemporary cases,this dissertation complements and perfects the previous research findings,and constructs an integrated analysis model of leadership style combination and evolution.The main findings of this dissertation are as follows:First of all,excellent leaders achieve their leadership goals through the combination of various leadership style.Distributed in different levels of leadership style,each leadership style plays its own role,and the combination presents a variety of forms.At the macro level of the whole project life cycle,leadership style presents the objective phenomenon of combination.At the level of local specific events,it presents the combination of some dimensions of different leadership style,including the combination of subordinate-oriented dimension,of self-directed dimension,of self-directed and subordinate-oriented dimensions.Based on the planned behavior theory,the combined action mechanism model of leadership style constructed in this dissertation summarizes the basic categories of leadership style,which can better comb the relevant theories of leadership style.This dissertation opens up a new perspective to analyze leadership style through combination path,which is helpful to better integrate and develop leadership theory.Second,at the macro level of the whole leadership process,the leadership style presents the characteristics of evolution and non-evolution under dynamic situational pressure.At the level of local specific events,the behavior related to leadership style presents variational characteristics.The non-evolution(maintaining the status quo)of leadership style and the variation(adjusting to changes with changes)of leadership behavior are the unity of opposites between invariance and variance.The non-evolution leadership style involves obvious moral characteristics at the senior level,the importance of which has been recognized and reinforced in this dissertation.Furthermore,this dissertation develops the leader's situational factors,and finds the important influence of the variant subordinates' planned behavior on leader's situation.Third,the integrated analysis model of the combination and evolution of leadership style in this dissertation reflects the leadership characteristics made by the dynamic selection of excellent leaders,which are complementary to each other and have certain emphasis,so as to avoid the one-sidedness of separate analysis.Under the pressure of dynamic situation,the evolution and non-evolution characteristics of leadership style are related to the combination of self-directed dimensions.At the level of local specific events,the related behavior of leadership style should not only adapt to the dynamic situation,but also positively affect all factors of subordinates' planned behavior through leadership style combination.Ethical,spiritual and authentic leadership plays a positive role in the integration of the combination and evolution of leadership style,which is certain to arouse the attention of academic circles.Combined with the findings of the research,this dissertation also provides management enlightenments.Firstly,through the theoretical model constructed in this dissertation,leaders can better self-diagnose the mastery of leadership style and related dimensions,so as to develop their own leadership training program.Secondly,leaders should pay attention to the cultivation of high-level leadership style combined with obvious moral characteristics,so as to achieve win-win results of complying with moral norms and reaching leadership goals.
