| The application of advanced manufacturing technology(AMT)is the only way to upgrade the manufacturing industry,especially the equipment manufacturing industry.China’s manufacturing enterprises have applied AMT for more than 20 years,but in practice,many enterprises did not achieve the expected effect of improving product innovation performance,the reason is that they only pay attention to the adoption of AMT,while ignoring the key influencing factors of the application of AMT.Therefore,it is necessary to clarify the key influencing factors restricting the application of AMT in manufacturing enterprises,and optimize the structure of the key influencing factors according to their influence mechanism,in order to maximize the application of AMT in manufacturing enterprises to improve product innovation performance.It is found that although the application of AMT to improve product innovation performance has become a practical concern of enterprises,there is a relatively lack of research on the impact of AMT on innovation performance,which is not enough to provide theoretical support for enterprises to solve the above problems.It is necessary to deeply study and discuss the influence mechanism of the application of AMT on product innovation performance.Equipment manufacturing industry is in the upstream link of manufacturing industry,which is the foundation of manufacturing industry.Therefore,this paper takes equipment manufacturing enterprises as the research sample,and focuses on the following four issues.1.What are the key influencing factors of AMT application in equipment manufacturing enterprises?2.What is the internal mechanism of action of the key influencing factors on AMT application?3.What is the action path and constraint mechanism of different dimensions of AMT on product innovation performance?4.What is the long-term dynamic evolution relationship between AMT and product innovation performance in different dimensions?This paper adopts the method of combining qualitative&quantitative research and static&dynamic research,discusses the four sub-studies to clarify them item by item.In substudy 1,the theoretical model of advanced manufacturing technology(AMT)application key influencing factors was constructed by the programmatic grounded theory.Taking some equipment manufacturing enterprises in the list of "Intelligent Manufacturing Pilot Demonstration Enterprises and Projects" supported by the Tianjin Industrial and Information Technology Bureau from 2018 to 2021,through the grounded theoretical process of selective coding,spindle coding and open coding,closely combined with the situation of technology application field research and interview,six key influencing factors of AMT application based on the "ability-motivation-opportunity"(AMO)framework are extracted:3 ability factors(technical ability,market ability,and management ability),2 motivation factors(material incentives and development incentives),and 1 opportunity factors(external stakeholders),to lay the foundation for the subsequent empirical research,the theoretical model is also refined and elaborated.In Sub-study 2,ordinal logistic regression was taken to verify the key driving factors and influence mechanism of AMT application in equipment manufacturing industry.On the basis of sub-study 1,deconstruct the influencing factors and indicators of the implementation of AMT in the equipment manufacturing industry,put forward the hypotheses of the research questions in this chapter,and measure them.We analyze the research data,analysis using ordinal logistic regression,and finally reveal the influencing factors and influencing mechanisms of AMT application in equipment manufacturing industry,modify the theoretical model,and form AMT application driving mechanism model.The results show that:ability factors(technical ability,market ability,and management ability),motivation factors(material incentives and development incentives)and opportunity factors(external stakeholders)have different degrees of direct impact on AMT,while the direct effect of organizational material incentive factors has not been verified.Among them,the direct impact of opportunity factors is significantly greater than that of ability and motivation factors.Opportunity factors further positively moderate the relationship between technical ability,organizational material incentives,development incentives and AMT application,while the moderation effect of opportunity factors on market ability and management ability have not been verified.The empirical results indicate that there is moderate complementary between AMO variables applied by AMT.In sub-study 3,hierarchical regression and bootstrap methods were used to verify the static relationship between advanced manufacturing technology(AMT)and product innovation performance.Base on the basis of knowledge-based theory and resource orchestration theory,this paper explores the micro-mechanisms how design/manufacturing/administrative AMT affect product innovation performance.Take absorption ability as a mediation variable and design-manufacturing integration as a moderating variable,hierarchical regression,bootstrap and other methods are used to conduct empirical analysis,thus opening the "black box" of different dimensions of AMT affecting enterprise innovation,and revealing the action path and constraint mechanism of different dimensions of AMT affecting enterprise innovation.The results indicate that design/manufacturing/administrative AMT not only directly affect product innovation performance,but also indirectly through the mediating effect of absorption ability;design-manufacturing integration not only positively moderates the relationship between absorption ability and product innovation performance,but also enhances the mediating role of absorption ability,which has a moderated mediation effect.In sub-study 4,the system dynamics method was taken to verify the dynamic relationship between AMT and product innovation performance.Based on sub-study 3,on the basis of dissecting the causal relationship diagram of design/manufacturing/administrative AMT to product innovation performance subsystem,the causal relationship diagram of the feedback relationship of the "AMT-innovation" system is constructed;Then,draw the flow diagram of the system dynamics and determine equation building of system dynamics model.Next,the long-term evolution trend is simulated and analyzed by Vensim PLE:first,simulate the effects of one-dimensional AMT on product innovation performance separately;second,investigate the combined effect of multidimensional AMTs on product innovation performance in different scenarios;third,conduct sensitivity analysis through "prior technical level" and "organizational learning willingness".The simulation analysis provided four major conclusions.First,the impact of AMT on the product innovation performance is characterized by dynamic changes.The initial implementation of AMT exerts a short-term inhibiting effect;however,it provides medium-and long-term benefits.Second,the enhancement of the single dimension of design,manufacturing,and administrative AMT exerts a positive impact on knowledge absorptive capacity and product innovation performance;however,the impact of design AMT is the most noticeable.Third,the design,manufacturing,and administrative AMTs are complementary,and the product innovation benefit of combining multidimensional AMT is most apparent;the synergistic effect produced by it can markedly enhance the product innovation performance compared with one-dimensional AMT.Finally,prior technical level and organizational learning willingness positively moderate the correlation between AMT and product innovation.However,compared with the prior technical level,organizational learning willingness exerts a more notable moderating effect on the product innovation performance.Throughout the full text,this paper mainly expands and deepens in the following four aspects:(1)theoretically construct the theoretical model of key influencing factors for AMT application in equipment manufacturing enterprises;(2)Empirically test the key influencing factors and internal mechanism of AMT application for equipment manufacturing enterprises;(3)Theoretically explore and empirically test the impact of AMT on product innovation performance,and clarify the mechanism of absorptive capacity and design manufacturing integration;(4)In theory,the system dynamics model of the relationship between AMT and product innovation performance is constructed,and the simulation and sensitivity analysis are carried out to deeply reveal the dynamic influence mechanism of one-dimensional AMT and multi-dimensional AMT combination on product innovation performance. |
