Taxonomic Study On Chinese Species Of Chalcididae(Hymenoptera:Chalcidoidea)

The family Chalcididae belongs to superfamily Chalcidoidea of Hymenoptera.As a natural parasitoid of agricultural and forestry pests,it plays an important role in the natural control of pests,and also an important biological resource.This research,by sorting out and studying Chalcididae in China,intends to categorize and identify Chalcididae,enrich the biodiversity of China,and further provide a theoretical basis for the research on biological control.Based on the collection of the Insect Collection of NEFU,a total of 302 Chalcididae specimens(all specimens were cards mounted)were collected by the lab members and myself during doctoral research with the method of sweeping,yellow pan trapping,malaise trapping and host rearing.And a taxonomic study was further conducted thereto according to their external morphology.This paper includes 4 chapters.Chapter 1 focuses on the general situation of the taxonomy of Chalcididae.Chapter 2 is an overview of the morphological structure of Chalcididae.Chapter 3 introduces the research materials,methods of collection,preparation of specimens,picture taking and image processing methods.Chapter 4 introduces 14 genera and 44 species of Chalcididae in China,including 14 new species: Antrocephalus breviventris sp.nov.,Antrocephalus longipedicellus sp.nov.,Antrocephalus rubripedus sp.nov.,Brachymeria albitibia sp.nov.,Brachymeria brevifunicula sp.nov.,Brachymeria truncaticlava sp.nov.,Chalcis dentipetiolata sp.nov.,Haltichella bimaculata Wang and Li sp.nov.,Haltichella bomiana Wang and Li sp.nov.,Haltichella strigata Wang and Li sp.nov.,Hockeria tridenticula sp.nov.,Kriechbaumerella yunnana sp.nov.,Proconura hainana sp.nov.,Psilochalcis dianensis sp.nov.;7 new record species of China: Dirhinus flavicornis Schmitz,Haltichella clavicornis(Ashmead),Haltichella luzonica Masi,Hockeria apani Daganlar,Hockeria atra Masi,Kriechbaumerella nepalensis Narendran,Neochalcis breviceps(Masi);1new record genus of Mainland: Psilochalcis Kieffer;and 3 new record species of Mainland:Chalcis edentata Narendran,Dirhinus anthracia Walker,Dirhinus texanus(Ashmead).Meanwhile,the retrieval tables for classification of genera under Chalcididae in China and the species under each genus are also provided,describing the morphological characteristics of each genus and species in detail,listing out the citations,hosts and distributions,and draw up the Chinese names for some of them.Moreover,the appendix provides 89 pictures showing morphological characteristics of adults,as well as a catalog of Chalcididae in China.This research aims to provide a theoretical basis for the biological control of agricultural and forestry pests in China and further enrich our natural enemy resources and biodiversity.The type specimens were deposited in the Insect Collection of Northeast Forestry University,Harbin,China.
