Abstract/Summary:
The Gastrancistrus distributes widely in the world with 136 recorded species, which is treated in Pireninae under Pteromalidae(Hymenoptera: Chalcidoidea), but few studies have been made in China. Host information of most species is unknown. Some species were recorded as parasitoids of Cecidomyiidae(Diptera), Agromyzidae(Diptera), Tenthredinidae(Hymenoptera) and Cynipidae(Diptera). The species of Gastrancistrus reared from galls, larvae and pupae. Most species of this genus may lead a parasitic life on insects which may cause great losses in agriculture and forestry, making them play a potential and important role in biological control and maintaining ecosystem balance. In this paper, morphological classification was mainly applied to study the classification system of Gastrancistrus Historical and current classification system of Gastrancistrus, as well as taxonomic history is reviewed, structures and morphological terminology of adult are introduced, methodes of collecting and preserving are included, geological distribution patterns of Gastrancistrus in China as well as in the world are analyzed primarily. Based on examination of the few materials in the Zoological Museum, Institute of Zoology, 32 species of Gastrancistrus from China are described, inclinding 17 new species, as: Gastrancistrus accrescentis sp. nov; Gastrancistrus aequabilis sp. nov; Gastrancistrus atrioculus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus caeruleus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus concolor sp. nov; Gastrancistrus ellipsoideus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus exculptus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus grammatus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus igneus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus molestus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus plicatus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus productus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus pumilus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus speciosus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus spiculiformis sp. nov; Gastrancistrus sulcatus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus syntheticus sp. nov; Gastrancistrus valvulatus sp. nov. 14 newly recorded species. A key to the 32 species is given here. This paper in cludes synonymy, description, biology, distribution and material examined. 192 digital photographs and 96 figures are provided.
