| The Five-Yun and Six-Qi(Yun-Qi)are the study of the cyclical changes of the Qi of heaven and earth and their effects on all things in nature and human life activities.Based on the theory of the five elements of Yin and Yang,it describes the cyclical changes of the Qi of heaven and earth, and the physiological and pathological phenomena produced by these changes on the human body, and is a high embodiment of the idea of "the unity of heaven and man" in the Huangdi Neijing.Based on the theory of the Five-Yun and Six-Qi,we can investigate the influence of the Qi of heaven and earth on the formation of innate endowments and the occurrence of diseases in the human body, which is of great significance for the prevention and treatment of diseases. This study takes bipolar disorder as an entry point to investigate the relationship between innate Yun-Qi endowment and the development of bipolar disorder,as well as the time of Yun-Qi when bipolar disorder is highly prevalent,to provide a new perspective for the etiological study of bipolar disorder,in order to better achieve the prevention of the development and onset of bipolar disorder.1 Objectives:(1)To investigate the correlation between lunar phases and the Yun-Qi periods, and to elucidate the influence of lunar phases on psychiatric disorders.(2)To investigate whether the timing of maternal conception is correlated with the development of bipolar disorder in the offspring.(3)To investigate whether the onset of bipolar disorder is influenced by Yunqi-related temporal rhythms.2 MethodsTheoretical discussion:The discussion is centered on the correlation between the phases of the moon and the Five-Yun and Six-Qi,and the influence of the moon on the human body. The relationship between the lunar phases and the Taiyin calendar,as well as the background of the theory of Yun-Qi in the Huangdi NeiJing,is discussed. The effects of the moon on human qi and blood, the acupuncture method based on the moon phase, and the effects of the moon on mental illness are also discussed.Data analysis:(1)Data source:bipolar disorder patient data(case group):Beijing Huilongguan Hospital January 1,2017-December 31,2019,Zhumadian Second People’s Hospital Yu’nan Mental Health Center January 1,2012-December 31,2018,Shandong Province Mental Health Center from January 1,2016-December 31,2017,all case data of inpatients during the period of January 1,2016-December 31,2017,a total of 8992 cases.Non-bipolar disorder patient data(control group):All case data of patients hospitalized during January 1,2012-December 31,2015 at Dongzhimen Hospital of Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.(2)Study methods:study related to innate Yun-Qi endowment in patients with bipolar disorder:three psychiatric hospitals and Dongzhimen case data were used to compare the gender composition and age distribution between the two groups using Pearson chi-square test and Mann-Whitney U non-parametric test.Variables with P<0.1 in the Pearson chi-square test were screened for further inclusion in the regression model for analysis.Dichotomous logistic regression with unordered multicategorical independent variables was used to investigate the association between developing bipolar disorder and Yun-Qi endowment to control for bias induced by the baseline data.Yun-Qi factors related to gender, age subjected to the heavenly stem of pregnancy,six-step Zhu-Yun,Sitian/Zaiquan,and Ke-Qi were included in the logistic regression model,respectively.P-values and ratios in the logistic regression models were calculated over OR.Study of Yun-Qi and other related rhythms during the onset of bipolar disorder:this part of the study used all bipolar disorder case data from 2012-2018 at the Yu Nan Mental Health Center of the Second People’s Hospital of Zhumadian City, with a total of 4991 cases. The study methods were the same as above.Study of the association between moon phase and bipolar disorder development and onset:Case data from three psychiatric hospitals were used to assess the statistical significance of differences at baseline using t-tests and Pearson chi-square tests.A cosinor analysis was used to explore whether there was a correlation between the time of admission and the time of birth distribution of patients with bipolar disorder and the lunar phase rhythm, and if a correlation existed, further and compared differences in amplitude, baseline and phase between subgroups. The cycle rhythm was set as half(14.75 days)or one(29.5 days)lunar cycle.3 Results(1)Study of innate endowment in bipolar patientsNo differences were found between bipolar disorder and controls in the comparison of conception seasons.Among the single Yun-Qi factors,a higher proportion of bipolar disorder patients were conceived in the Xin year;a lower proportion of bipolar disorder patients had Shaoyin-Junhuo and Yangming-Zaojin as the Qi of the Heavenly Division;and a lower proportion of bipolar disorder patients were conceived with Yangming-Zaojin Zaiquan. The proportion of bipolar disorder was higher among those whose Yun-Qi was characterized by cold-dampness stagnation, cold and heat, host and guest incompatibility, and too much coolness. For those who were conceived in the first half of the year, when the 30 yearly Yun-Qi combinations were analyzed together, the proportion was higher in Shui-Yun+ShaoYin-JunHuo,Jin-Yun+JueYin-FengMu,Shui-Yun+TaiYin-Shitu,Huo-Yun+ShaoYang-XiangHuo,Tu-Yun+YangMing-Zaojin,Huo-Yun+Taiyang-Hanshui,and Tu-Yun+Taiyang-Hanshui,and lower in Huo-Yun+Shaoyin-Junhuo and Tu-Yun+Taiyin-Shitu.All the above results are P<0.05,and the differences are statistically significant.Among those conceived in the second half of the year, the proportion of Suiyun+Zaiquan was higher in the periods of Huo-Yun+Jueyin-Fengmu,Tu-Yun+Taiyin-Shitu,Jin-Yun+Shaoyang-Xianghuo,and Mu-Yun+Taiyang-Hanshui,and lower in the period of Tu-Yun+Jueyin-Fengmu.All the above results are P<0.05,and the differences are statistically significant.Among the Yun-Qi Synchronization factors, the proportion of those conceived in the same positive Shang year decreased. The proportion of conceptions in the year of Taiyi-TianFu decreased among the Yun-Qi assimilation factors. There was no statistical difference between conception with or without Yun-Qi assimilation and with or without Yun-Qi synchronization year. The proportion of bipolar disorder with psychotic symptoms only increased in those conceived in the year of Shaoyang-Xianghuo,but there was no statistical difference in other Yun-Qi characteristics.(2)Study on the Yun-Qi characteristics of bipolar disorder onsetThe onset of bipolar affective disorder is higher during the time when the Zhu-yun of Mu-Yun in conjunction with the Ke-qi of Taiyin-Shitu,higher during the time when the final Qi Shui-Yun in conjunction with the ShaoYin-JunHuo,and lower during the time when fourth Yun of Tu-yun in conjunction with the Taiyin-Shitu.(3)The influence of the Moon on the development and onset of bipolar disorderThe incidence of all subtypes of bipolar disorder decreases during the new and full moons and increases during the upper and lower lunar periods. The proportion of people with bipolar disorder who were born around the full moon increased.4 Conclusions(1)The moon phase is not only an important part of the lunar calendar as the basis of the lunar calendar, but also has a close relationship with the Yun-Qi of the stem and branches through the observation of the first day of the moon.Based on the influence of the moon on the qi of heaven and earth and the human body,it can be reasonably assumed that there is a correlation between the changes of the moon phase and the cycle changes of the Yun-Qi,as well as the occurrence of human mental diseases.(2)Different innate Yun-Qi endowments have an impact on the development of bipolar disorder. The normal nurturing of innate Yang energy has a very important impact on the normal growth of the fetus and mental growth, whether the yang energy is not full due to cold and dampness, too much coolness,or the Yang energy is depressed due to the cold and heat, the Zhu-Yun and Ke-Qi elements are not in harmony,or the water and fire are in conflict, the risk of bipolar disorder is increased, while the fetus conceived during the time of normal nurturing of yang energy has a lower rate of bipolar disorder.(3)The influence of Yun-Qi on the onset of bipolar disorder differs based on manic episodes and depressive episodes, with manic episodes being associated with Yun-Qi periods when Yang is in full strength and depressive episodes being associated with Yang-Heat decline,Yang-Heat deficiency, and cold breeding.(4)This effect of the moon phase may be related to its influence on the fluctuation of qi and blood, which in turn affects sleep,or it may be related to the different parts of the body where qi,blood and human spirit travel with the moon phase. The mechanism of its influence and the mechanism that affects the development of diseases still needs further research. |
