In 1949,the Philippines officially recognized the independence of South Korea,simultaneously,South Korea officially established diplomatic relations with the Philippines.From then until now,the relationship between the two countries has developed steadily and has been progressively strengthened.This has had a positive impact on consolidating the political trust and strengthening economic and trade exchanges together with promoting social and cultural exchanges between the two countries.With the rapid growth of Korean investment in the Philippines since 1980,Korean companies,Korean churches,Korean entertainers,tourists,and Korean students have flooded into the Philippines.Consequently,a large-scale Korean community has gradually formed in the Philippines.This Korean Community has had an indispensable impact on the Philippines in terms of business,religion,food culture,fashion culture,art,language,etc.It can be said that the "Korean Wave" culture is gradually becoming a beautiful color of the multiculturalism in the Philippine society.The influence of the "Korean Wave" on the younger generation of Filipinos has undoubtedly promoted the positive recognition of the South Korean culture and its national image in the Philippine society.This article discusses the interaction between South Korea’s trade and investment in the Philippines and Korean immigrants to the Philippines,and its impact on the export of South Korea’s cultural soft power in the context of the development of Korean-Philippine relations.This article shows that the strong diplomatic relationship between the two countries is conducive for economic cooperation between the two countries.The close economic exchanges between the two countries have promoted the social and cultural exchanges between the two countries.The Korean community’s output of promoting South Korean cultural through soft power has had a positive impact on the Philippines.
