The “Belt and Road initiative”(BRI)comes into a strategic concept promoted by China at the national level. This new type of international cooperation initiative was put forward by the Chinese government, which provides a new direction and possibilities for the development of the global governance system. For a long time in the future,BRI will be a key research area discussed world-widely by governments and corporations. From a macro perspective,BRI has made remarkable achievements in the past eight years.A large number of construction projects have taken root in countries which stimulate local economic development, raise the local employment rate, promote upgrading of industrial structure and finally achieved win-win cooperation. From a micro point of view,it is the enterprises that are the main actors of the BRI.Chinese enterprises gained a lot of rare and valuable experience. In the process of promoting projects in countries along the “Belt and Road”,Chinese companies are faced with both external and internal challenges.Under the complex international and domestic situation,it is a long-standing challenge that to predict the uncertainty of Chinese enterprises’ participation in the promotion of the BRI in foreign investment and business activities. It is also difficult in how to guide Chinese enterprises to effectively participate in the cooperation under the guidance of the macro strategy. As BRI is a long and complex historical project, this dissertation attempts to do research by follow methods: literature review, social investigation, case analysis, deductive analysis, historical analysis etc.Firstly, this paper tries to analyze BRI by using international relations theories such as economic globalization, geopolitics, global public goods and management strategy. The main part of the dissertation is taking the field of infrastructure construction as an example. It selects some typical cases of Chinese enterprises investing in the BRI.The third chapter takes three successful cases, including the Wan Wan high-speed rail, the Lai Bi Tong copper mine and the Piraeus port of China and Egypt. In this chapter, the background of these successful cases was introduced. The rest are analyzing its impact on local social economy, and summarizing valuable experience of the project. The fourth chapter expounds the risk factors of BRI project obstruction by taking some examples such as high-risk projects of "going global" of myitsone hydropower station and China’s high-speed railway.Based on the above cases, the author tries to establish a SWOT-PESTEL matrix model to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of internal resources and capabilities in the micro practice of Chinese enterprises,as well as the external opportunities and challenges, and puts forward countermeasures. The final chapters focus on the recommendations to promote high-quality BRI cooperation combining theory with practice.
