| The present research paper focuses on an underexploited topic, the juxtaposition of the flagship international project of the People`s Republic of China, the One Belt One Road Initiative, and the `Paris Agreement`,an United Nation document with international coverage. The research proposes a holistic approach over two subjects that belong to different domains– a project of global infrastructure development strategy and a global framework binding document for environmental protection – and analyzes them from an interdisciplinary perspective. The common substrate of both topics is linked to the international cooperation, global governance,inter-regional connectivity, preservation of resources and universal progress, all framed by the premises of Sustainable Development. The theoretical significance of the selected subject lays in the backbone of the two concepts: Belt and Road Initiative and `The Paris Agreement`.The first one, linked to the Silk Road and everything it meant in the history of social and economic development;the second one, relaying on the numerous international law particularities that are reflected in the Agreement. The practical significance of the researched topic is reveled in the findings of the paper, the implications for both Belt and Road Initiative and `The Paris Agreement` are major, involving cooperation, innovation and cultural support of unprecedented levels. The main research content follows a simple and coherent structure, focused around the exhaustive explanation of the two main concepts – Belt and Road Initiative and `The Paris Agreement` – treated separately;followed by the various aspects where the two intertwine to produce effects, relevant for the success of both of them when treated as one common goal. The present research is based on theories and concepts, set to launch another theory: the new available technologies implemented in the infrastructure construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, and its sub sequential use, will help `The Paris Agreement` reach its goals. The main research methods are secondary research, grounded theory and qualitative research.Due to the novelty of the topic, the specific literature from the related fields(for both Belt and Road Initiative and `The Paris Agreement`)is insufficient at best. Both Belt and Road Initiative and `The Paris Agreement` are in their implementation stages, resulting in ongoing researches for each of the two and a multitude of studies that follow through the implementation steps, the effects and the impact.A final, comprehensive and exhaustive paper for any of the topics is not yet available and most probably it will not be until both of the project are completely implemented or they start producing measurable effects. The main questions of the research are set to extract the conclusion that `The Paris Agreement` will met its set up goal only if the countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative will cooperate and make improvements towards reaching that goal.Second conclusion, closely linked to the first one,is that the final desiderate of the Belt and Road Initiative of cooperation and improved life for all countries involved can only be met if `The Paris Agreement` previsions are put into practice. |
