| The social differentiated development, population aging and the public crisis highlights the mismatch of community functions. The transformation of physical space has not solved the internal structural problems of social space.Building a community full of human warmth requires thinking about what kind of space residents need from the perspective of human perception, and conducting in-depth research on functional mismatch and system adaptation from the perspective of social space theory.Based on the logic of "discovery→ analysis →problem solving",the community renewal analysis framework of "function oriented→system adaptation→governance mechanism" is constructed.Entering the social spatial system,it is found that the mismatch of spatial function is the governance structure problem behind the dynamic demand of the conceptual space and residents. The complex adaptation system, embedded governance and social space theory are integrated to explore the relationship between spatial function orientation, system adaptation and governance mechanism, and it is found that there is no governance mechanism to adjust the functional supply to the dynamic demand.By comparing the impact of single and multi-agent governance on adaptability through multiple cases,it is found that system adaptation is not only the adaptation of multifunction, but also the adaptation of multi-agent structure and institution.Community renewal is a process of multi-agent embedded governance, and it is difficult for a single government regulation to adapt to the complexity and dynamics within the community. This paper constructs a governance framework for community renewal, and puts forward an institutional logic based on social spatial resource endowment. This paper integrates the theory of social space and community governance, and analyzes the multi-hierarchy and element relationship of social space system with grounded theory and multiple case studies. The social space data of the case community were collected through questionnaires, field surveys and interviews, and the interview data were encoded in the process of constructing the theoretical framework, and then the theoretical framework was revised.Following the theoretical framework of "multi-functional orientation-adaptive analysis-embedded governance",multiple case studies are used to demonstrate and draw three level conclusions.(1)It is found that the mismatch of community functions is the impact of the imbalance of the governance structure of a single entity, and it is necessary to meet the dynamic needs of residents with a multi-functional orientation. There is a "decoupling" between the governmentled conceptual space and the dynamic perception of residents, and there is no corresponding governance mechanism to adjust the dynamic demand generated by time changes, resulting in a mismatch between supply and demand. The core characteristics of functional mismatch obtained through data coding are functional conflict, single function and functional degradation.Compatibility, diversity and adaptive functional orientation can meet the needs of residents.Multi-functional renewal requires multi-agent collaboration to design and create diverse spaces from bottom-up dynamic perception, improve the adaptability of functional orientation.(2)The analysis finds that the multi-agent structure of government, market and selforganization is more adaptive for community renewal than a single agent, and community adaptability is the adaptation of structure, institution and function.Neither the single government nor the market supply can adapt to the dynamic needs of residents, and the root cause of the system weakness lies in the imbalance of the governance structure, resulting in a single function supply.Government, market and self-organizing collaboration can achieve multifunctional renewal and match the needs of residents. The excessive centralization of the governance structure requires separation and balances, allocate more power among various agents to achieve a balanced state of multi-agent coordination.(3)This research constructs an embedded governance mechanism for government and self-organization to promote multi-agent collaborative renewal, and embedded governance is a combination of adaptive control, equity incentives and self-organization empowerment. The case of negative externalities in public space demonstrates the overdependence on government regulation,a single government regulation can incur extremely high institutional and coordination costs. The self-organization system within the community is more flexible than government regulation, and effectively complements the areas that the government cannot reach.Self-organization empowerment requires the government to delegate power appropriately, provide equity incentives and property rights, make the self-organization mechanism and government regulation promote and complement each other. The institutional logic of community renewal is the strategy of "multi-agent structure→embedded governance →multi-functional adaptability",according to the social spatial resource and local conditions, first develop the social foundation, take the government, market and selforganization coordination embedded governance mechanism as the action framework, provide multi-functional supply from the perspective of residents’ dynamic demand, and constrain the imbalance of government and market supply with the governance structure of residents participation in decision-making,so as to achieve multi-agent and multi-functional renewal. This research establishes theoretical connections between the perception, representation, and conception of social space theory and the behavior, function and planning of community renewal,so as to provide theoretical reference for community renewal governance.Theoretical connection can combine multi-agent behavior perception and conceptual planning to achieve balanced functional configuration of political, economic and social benefits. At the same time, the research incorporates system adaptability into community renewal research, and forms a "multifunction-system adaptation-multiagent structure" framework with systematic adaptation, which provides a bottom-up structural framework for the multi-functional supply of vulnerable groups, and enhances the functional supply capacity with multi-agent synergy, which has enlightening significance for the transformation of community governance structure and the integration of limited resources to achieve adaptive renewal. Finally, the internal relationship between community governance and social space theory is established through community renewal, and the theoretical framework of social space governance constructed by crossintegration makes theoretical contributions to the research of community renewal, which enriches the spatial vision for community governance theory, and also enriches the application of urban renewal for social spatial theory. |
