Research On College Students’ Political Identity

The research on identity is a universal concern in contemporary social science and has become an important research in many disciplines.Psychology,sociology,politics,philosophy,anthropology,and history all define and interpret the concept of identity from their respective fields and perspectives.They also express and show the relevant issues concerned by each discipline from the perspective of identity.Under the historical conditions of economic globalization,cultural diversification,social informatization and diversified value orientation,the social relations and operation are increasingly complex,and the ideological concept,value orientation,social communication and lifestyle of college students have undergone profound changes.How to face and adapt to the changed and changing society,fully explore and study college students’ political identification,accurately grasp the political identity of contemporary college students and the factors influencing the changes of political identification,explain and solve many new cognitive problems and ideological perplexities that college students have or may have,guide the political value orientation,standard political behaviors,and develop and form a solid political identity,are the urgent need to adapt to the profound social changes.This is also a major theoretical issue facing the political life of college students,the inner call of constructing a harmonious society,an important cornerstone of the political legitimacy and stability,and the goal orientation and the realistic subject of ideological and political education.The author intends to position the political identity of contemporary college students from four new perspectives.The first is the perspective of the subject,that is,the study on the objectivity of political identity subject.Based on the existing theories and empirical studies related to political identity,this paper makes a special study on college students,a relatively independent group.The youth stage is in the intermediate and transitional stage of life development,and its physical and mental natural growth and comprehensive socialization are more far-reaching than any other stage.Growing from immaturity to maturity is a typical characteristic of college students,so it contains the contradiction between immaturity and maturity and the hope from immaturity to maturity.No matter from the physical development,the mental development,and the character consummation individually,or from the life expansion and the communication interpersonal socially,all have to face more contradictions and problems than the childhood.The second is the realistic perspective.Each generation has its objective realistic basis and historical background for survival and development.Contemporary college students are in the historical period of social transformation in China.Under the historical background of globalization,the author selects the social changes brought about by China’s reform and opening up,and seeks the political identification tendency and law of college students in the new conditions and context of values,social structure,political culture,political construction,and political participation.Thirdly,the social perspective.All human activities,including political ideology and political behaviors,are subject to the constraints of the real society,the actual political situation,the content and form of political socialization,the trend of political development,and other factors,all of which play a role in the political identity of college students.The path and forming elements of political socialization provided by society are the important factors that affect students’ political identity.The fourth is the discipline perspective of ideological and political education.Political identity is a kind of political practice,which is affected by various social factors and has different status and value characteristics.Ideological and political education is an important form of political socialization,the basic way to cultivate and improve political identity,and the main channel and main position of ideological and political work.The goal of ideological and political education is to form and consolidate the political identity of the construction of socialism with Chinese characteristics led by the communist party of China through ideological and political education activities.Only by constantly improving and perfecting the ideological and political education and optimizing the level of political socialization can the consolidation and improvement of political identity be promoted.The main content of this paper consists of six parts:An introduction.This chapter mainly expounds on the establishment basis and research value of the research on the contemporary Chinese college students’ political identity,research actuality and its comments,and the research ideas,main contents,main research methods and innovative points of this paper.The first chapter,the connotation and characteristics of the college students’ political identity.This chapter defines the related concepts of political identity,sorts out and generalizes the logic of the concepts,reveals the essential connotation of the political identity of college students in terms of clarifying its value and function,and finds the starting point,foundation,way,means of expression,foothold,and core of identity.At the same time,this paper makes a detailed and comprehensive classification of the status of political identity according to the subject,object,law of psychological development,forming process,influencing factors,methods,approaches,levels and degrees,behavior practice and development trend.In the extraction of the basic characteristics of political identity,this paper uses the dialectical unity method to make a comparative analysis,which reveals the unity of opposites between the specific subject and object of political identity,between construction and evolution,between power and right,between difference and seeking common ground,and between reason and irrationality.The second chapter is about the theory and reference of college students’ political identity.As an important phenomenon in political life,political identity has been concerned by many scholars since Freud.From the western political science-related theoretical resources,Marxist related theoretical resources,and the political identity of the new era,this chapter systematizes and uses for reference the enlightening theoretical basis and basis of political identity in the theories of political socialization,political culture,ideology,Marxist classical theory and the people’s subjectivity in the new era.The third chapter is about the forming process of the college students’ political identity.This paper holds that the forming process of political identity is a process of dynamic promotion and development of extrapolation and endogeny and from internalization to externalization,and is the result of the interaction of internal and external mechanisms on the subject and object of identity.This paper deduces the development process of knowledge,emotion,intention,faith and action,and the dynamic circulation system formed by the political identity of college students from the four dimensions of subjectivity,motivation,psychological process,and practice.The subjectivity theory of college students’ political identity focuses on the criteria and influencing factors of the formation of college students’ political "self-identity" and studies the universality and particularity of college students in the process of forming political psychology.Correspondingly,the motivation theory of college students’ political identity focuses on the various forces that can drive,stimulate and guide college students to consciously and autonomously accept and identify with a certain political system,and focuses on the core issue of how to effectively meet the actual spiritual needs of college students.The psychological process theory of college students’ political identification focuses on the mining and exploration of the operation mechanism of college students’ political psychology.The theory deeply analyzes that the starting point of internal identity,the inflection point is precipitation and solidification.It demonstrates in detail the basic process of identity from subjective identification to behavior transformation,and etc.The practical theory of college students’ political identity emphasizes that practicality is the essential stipulation of political identity,and the formation of political identity is the process of objectification of the subject and subjectification of the object.Political behavior is the external expression of the formation of college students’ political identity,and political participation is the practical dimension evaluation index of college students’ political identity.The key is to shift from the single "sense of belonging" to the definition of both "sense of belonging" and "practicality".The fourth chapter is about the influencing factors of college students’ political identity.From the connotation and the characteristics of the social transformation and globalization,this chapter analyzes the content and characteristics of the social transformation in contemporary China,the development of human social life on a global scale,and the rise of global awareness.This chapter discusses the impact of social structural changes in the process of social transformation and globalization that bring about the structural differentiation of interests,diversification of political value orientations,and political and cultural content complexity on the political identity of college students.This chapter also discusses in detail the influence of contemporary China’s democratic political construction on college students’ political identity from the aspects of the achievements,imperfection,and flaunting of the democratic political construction and the expansion of social members’ political participation.This paper holds that ideological identity is the core element of political identity and the highest level of political subject identity,and Marxism is the ideological soul of Chinese political life.Chapter five,the political identity education for college students.This chapter starts with the practical significance and challenges of strengthening the political identity education for college students and deeply analyzes the ideological and behavioral characteristics of post-00 s college students and the current situation of their political identity.Then this chapter expands the practical significance and challenges of strengthening college students ’political identity education.This paper proposes the novel idea and perspective optimization of college students’ political identity education from three aspects: the logical starting point,the logical fulcrum,and the value attribution.Conclusion,the goal of contemporary Chinese college students’ political identity.This chapter discusses that the self-confidence and self-consciousness of realizing the Chinese dream is the goal direction of contemporary Chinese college students’ political identity from the following four perspectives: to establish self-consciousness and confidence in the theoretical system of socialism with Chinese characteristics by drawing the line of basic theory,to build confidence in the path of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the view of correctly understanding Chinese characteristics and international comparison,to establish confidence in the guiding theories of socialism with Chinese characteristics by clarifying comparative advantages,and to cultivate a high degree of cultural awareness and cultural confidence in the cultivation of the core socialist values.
