With the development of Chinese campus football, significant breakthroughs have been made in the top-level design, and many scholars have done a lot of research in this field. In the early stage, the development of campus football depended on policy support and required large-scale students to be involved. However, these students lack initiative and persistence to participate. At present, campus football is moving from "Era 1.0" to "Era 2.0",and the focus of reform is from "Fundamental" to "Formidable".In 2020,the regional sports bureau and education authority jointly issued the "Opinions on Deepening the Integration of Sports and Education to Promote the Healthy Development of Adolescent" and the "Notice of the Action Plan for the Construction of Eight Major Systems of National Campus Football".Under the new situation of "integration of sports and education",campus football will become an important measure to expand football population and reserve talents. It will be an important goal for the development of campus football in the future to ensure the continuous participation of teenagers.Throughout the previous studies, most of them analyzed the macro environment of campus football, such as strategy, reform, culture and so on,but the research on psychological changes of teenagers was less involved.Psychological factors play a decisive role in individual behavior. Therefore,it is not comprehensive to study only the external environmental factors of the development of campus football. The individual behavior of adolescents as the main body of campus football and the mechanism of external factors on individual behavior should be an important research direction of future research. It is also the main purpose of this study. In this study, the grounded theory was used to explain the influencing factors of teenagers’ continuous participation behavior in campus football,an explanatory structural model was constructed based on ISM method, the SEM method was used to verify the validity of the model and the research hypothesis, and the longitudinal survey was used to compare the differences of participation behavior between persistent participants and dropouts. This paper comprehensively and systematically analyzed the influence mechanism of factors on persistent participation behavior in campus football, and put forward the corresponding promotion strategies. The main conclusions were as follows:1.The influencing factors of teenagers’ continuous participation behavior in campus football included 5 main categories and 13 conceptual categories. The main categories include: external environment, celebrity effect, interpersonal support, psychological needs and affective disposition. The conceptual categories were: idol worship, climate of opinion, campus environment, coach support, parents support, peer support, competence need, relatedness need and development need, athletic identity, sport enjoyment and continuous intention.2.This paper constructed the interpretative structural model of teenagers’ continuous participation behavior in campus football, verified the effectiveness of the model, and expounded the hierarchical relationship and mechanism among the factors of teenagers’ continuous participation in campus football. That is,celebrity effect, external environment and interpersonal support→ psychological needs→ athletic identity and sport enjoyment → continuous intention. In the hierarchical relationship, celebrity effect and interpersonal support have a positive impact on psychological needs, and psychological needs have an indirectly impact on continuous intention through athletic identity and sport enjoyment.3.There were gender and grade differences in the variables of teenagers’ continuous participation behavior in campus football.Boys scored higher than girls in idol worship, campus environment, interpersonal support(coaches, parents, peers),competence needs, development needs, sport enjoyment and continuous intention.Junior school students scored higher than high school students on variables such as idol worship, campus environment, interpersonal support, psychological needs, sport enjoyment and continuous intention.Compared with dropouts, continuous participants perceived higher celebrity effect, external environment, coach support, psychological need satisfaction, athletic identity, sport enjoyment and continuous intention.Celebrity effect, coach support, competence need, development need, relatedness need, sport enjoyment and continuous intention together predicted the continuous participation behavior of teenagers in campus football.4.Based on the analysis of the mechanism of the influencing factors, the following promotion strategies were put forward:The relevant management departments should further optimize the environment and atmosphere of campus football, correctly guide young people’s idolatry, strengthen the leading role of principals to train high-level coaches, and improve the competition system to facilitate the training of elite athletes. This study is different from the previous macro research. From the perspective of participants themselves, based on the subjective perception of teenagers, and using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods, this paper studies the influencing factors and mechanism of teenagers’ continuous participation behavior in campus football, and put forward promotion strategies. It clarifies the direction for the research on teenagers’ continuous participation behavior in campus football, and provides theoretical support for the sustainable development of campus football. There are certain innovations in research methods and research content.
