In the digital mobile era,the new social structure driven by media is gradually coming.This study selects short-video as a new media form to deeply investigate its process of entering social life and its own changes.The mediatization theory pays attention to the relationship between media and social change,takes the social moulding forces of media as the research core,and believes that the changes of media and communication have an important impact on the development of various fields of society.From the perspective of mediatization,the short-video and social life are regarded as a synchronic interaction system.The DouYin,Kai Shoui,Xi Gua Video and Bilibili,the four major short video platforms in China,were interviewed in two years through the Internet mediated ethnography.Through in-depth interviews with individual users,enterprises and institutional users,combined with discourse analysis and text analysis of short video front-end content,this paper makes a detailed investigation on the mutual construction process of short-video evolution and social life change,and deeply analyzes the mutual construction effect between them.This study believes that the rise of short-video not only represents the emergence of a new content pattern and media technology,but also constructs a new practice scene.Short-video research includes not only the content text at the symbolic level,but also the audio-visual vehicle in the material sense.Establishing the connection between symbolism and materiality in short-video communication needs to find an intermediate path,which makes the sociological oriented media research become a new paradigm to understand the media,understand people’s practical behavior,and understand the relationship between the media and society.Therefore,this study introduces the concepts of "media practice" and "actor",combines content and form,and investigates the media practice of multiple and heterogeneous actors in short-video communication.In addition,in the digital mobile era,media is not stable,but growing and evolving.The process of a media entering social life is not only the process of mediatization of society,but also the process of social shaping.Therefore,this study makes the second idea transformation,from investigating the impact of one-way short-video on social life to investigating the two-way impact between short-video and social life,that is,the mutual-construction.The full text is divided into six chapters.The first chapter mainly studies the symbolic characteristics and media materiality of short-video,indicating that the communication of short-video needs to break through the existing paradigm,adopt the sociological analysis orientation,and take the media practice as the starting point to investigate the network composed of heterogeneous actors in communication.The mutual-construction of short-video and social life refers to the interaction between them,which brings changes in function and structure.The second chapter mainly studies the diffusion of short-video in people’s daily entertainment.At this stage,the self-start of the platform and the bottom needs of users trigger each other,forming the popularity of short video.Short-video has become the stage of individual cultural practice and affected the overall appearance of contemporary media culture.The third chapter mainly studies the penetration of short-video into people’s daily life.At this stage,the algorithm system composed of human and non-human cooperation forms the algorithm logic,and there is a dual structure between the algorithm and user practice.In addition,short-video makes adjustments in terms of duration,topic and vertical category in the process of technical domestication to deal with its own public dilemma.Thus,short-video began to become an information channel for daily consumption and a way of communication for daily communication,and integrated into the practice of daily life.The fourth chapter mainly studies the involvement of short-video in the economic field.At this stage,the short-video platform has the possibility of leading the platform economy by expanding the profit-making mode.Various enterprises have settled in one after another to realize business interaction through short-video.MCN institutions play the role of middlemen to accelerate business transformation.Users have the opportunity to become "digital entrepreneurs",which increases the way to get rewards.Short-video related business practices have formed a mixed consumption scenario and social consumption relationship,reshaping the existing business model to a certain extent.The fifth chapter mainly studies the integration of short-video with traditional media,public management,education and other fields.Under the influence of short-video,traditional media are remediation.Government departments have become stakeholders of the platform to carry out multiple online and offline practices.The short-video practice of non-profit institutions such as education has a cross field effect.On this basis,the short-video platform shows the development trend of digital infrastructure.The sixth chapter summarizes the full text research,analyzes the overall framework and typical characteristics of the mutual-construction between short-video and social life,presents the dialogue with the mediatization theory made in this research,and points out the expandable space of the mutual-construction between media and society in the digital mobile era.Through the research,this paper puts forward three main conclusions:Firstly,the relationship between short-video and social life is a kind of mutual-construction.Four mutual-construction stages are trigger,integration,common benefit and coordination,and a two-way mutual-construction effect has been produced,that is,the short video platform has gradually evolved from a digital culture stage to a daily information channel,e-commerce platform and similar digital infrastructure,At the same time,in the field of social life,there are cultural performances,public life,platform economy and structural connections in multiple social fields around short videos.Secondly,in the digital mobile era,the mutual-construction between short-video and social life is characterized by the programmable technical characteristics of the digital platform,the mutual-construction process is promoted by the practice of multiple actors.and the mutual-construction presents a non subjective elastic effect.Finally,investigating the media practice of heterogeneous actors complements the sociological perspective of short-video research.In the digital mobile era,"mediation" and "mediatization" are not two competitive concepts.They complement each other in the communication research on media and social change.
