| It is essential for leaders to implement strategies that would engaged employees and retain them in the organization,this will consequently ensure the ministries achieve their organizational goals and objectives.Employees are faced with a crisis of trust with their leader and exhibit about the essential role of organizational citizenship to the effectiveness of an organization is needed.This study makes several contributions to the literature.First,this study respond to calls for attention to the key drivers of trust,employee work engagement,and organizational citizenship behavior and job satisfaction of ethical leadership style in the public organizations by studying the influence of ethical leadership style on job satisfaction in the public sector in Sierra Leone.From an estimated total Population of 5,000 staffs at the ministries(Statistics Sierra Leone 2019),a sample of 1,000 respondents were picked up from the various departments in the public sector ministries through proportionate random sampling.The survey considered the age,educational level and employee position in the public ministries.721 out of 1,000 sets of questionnaires distributed were valid for coding,analyzing and testing the hypothesis.Collected data were then analyzed using SPSS version 25.0 and AMOS version 21.0.The Structural Equation Model(SEM)was used to run the analysis.Prior to running and analyzing the model,several statistical tests were executed to test the validity and reliability of the dataset.Results from the pre-estimation test satisfy all the underlying assumption in validating the data generating process before carrying out the hypothesis testing.Results from the findings reveal that there is statistically significant positive relationship between ethical leadership style and job satisfaction among employees at the ministries.The results further showed a significant mediating effect of employees’ trust in their leaders,work engagement and organizational citizenship behavior in the relationship between ethical leadership and employee job satisfaction.The results also show that employee task independence is equally important for trust,work engagement and employee satisfaction.The study will conclude by informing policy for both theory and practice. |
