It is an important strategic support for the modernization of the innovative economic system and leads the high-quality development of China’s social economy.The 19 th National Congress and the outline of the 14 th Five-Year Plan also clearly pointed out the important role of innovation in the national development strategy.Due to the flexibility of innovation and entrepreneurship,attention to the persistence of new technologies and market opportunities,and willingness to undertake innovation risks,academic entrepreneurial enterprises have become key participants in the development of national innovation-driven strategy.Especially after experiencing the technical bottleneck of high-tech blockade,the importance of innovation is highlighted.Academic entrepreneurship is an activity that scholars realize the transformation of scientific research and innovation achievements in the form of entrepreneurship,and innovation is the foundation and key element of academic entrepreneurship.Innovation of enterprises mainly depends on individual innovation of employees and overall innovation of teams,especially for academic entrepreneurial enterprises with a large number of highly educated and high-tech researchers.The innovative behavior of employees and teams is the key behavior of academic entrepreneurial activities,which determines the growth and development of academic entrepreneurial enterprises.The participation of scientific researchers in the process of commercialization is often driven by individuals.The personal characteristics of academic entrepreneurs have an important impact on academic innovation and entrepreneurship activities,especially political skills that affect the interaction with stakeholders,which are even more important for the innovation and entrepreneurship behavior of academic teams.In today’s environment of rapid technological innovation and highly uncertain business model,academic entrepreneurs need high-level political skills to sense and seize opportunities for innovation and entrepreneurship,build and use entrepreneurial network,absorb and integrate various entrepreneurial resources,and support innovative behaviors in academic entrepreneurial teams to achieve entrepreneurial goals.At present,there is relatively little research on entrepreneurs’ political skills at home and abroad,which is still in its infancy.More and more researchers have begun to pay attention to the important role of entrepreneurs’ personal characteristics in their innovation and entrepreneurial activities.Domestic research on entrepreneurial political skills is still based on western research results,such as directly using the concept and scale of individual political skills in western workplace situations to define and measure Chinese entrepreneurs.However,ordinary employees are different from entrepreneurs,and the cultural backgrounds of China and the West are also different.Therefore,the political skills of entrepreneurs in China must be unique.Based on the Chinese cultural background,this study explores the related research of entrepreneurs’ political skills under localization,defines and explores the connotation and structural dimensions of entrepreneurs’ political skills,and takes academic entrepreneurs as the research object to explore the influence of academic entrepreneurs’ political skills on innovation behavior.This paper carried out three sub-studies:(1)The structural dimension exploration and scale development of entrepreneurs’ political skills,using the methods of induction and deduction,referring to the research results of structural dimensions and measurement of political skills at home and abroad,based on the results of in-depth interviews and questionnaires,developed and tested the scale of entrepreneurs’ political skills in China;(2)Research on the influence mechanism of academic entrepreneurs’ political skills on employees’ innovative behaviors,exploring the influence process of academic entrepreneurs’ political skills on employees’ innovative behaviors from the individual level,analyzing the role of employees’ harmonious innovation passion and innovative self-efficacy in this influence process based on the two internal driving forces of employees’ “want to do” and “can do”,and exploring the contextual variables that influence this process;(3)Research on the influence mechanism of academic entrepreneurs’ political skills on team innovation behavior,exploring the influence process of academic entrepreneurs’ political skills on team innovation behavior from the team level,introducing transactive memory system as a mediating variable,building a theoretical model at the team level,uncovering the interaction mechanism of team members in academic innovation and entrepreneurship,and exploring the contextual variables that influence this process.Based on the matching sample data of 91 academic entrepreneurial teams and 546 team members,the empirical research results show that:(1)Entrepreneurs’ political skill in Chinese context is a four-dimensional concept including keen political environment,entrepreneurial network ability,interpersonal influence and the ability to use politics,which can be captured by the 14-item scale developed in this study.(2)The influence of academic entrepreneurs’ political skills on employees’ individual innovation behavior is realized by stimulating employees’ harmonious innovation passion of “wanting to do” and innovation self-efficacy of “being able to do”,and the leader-member exchange relationship plays a moderator effect in it.(3)The influence of academic entrepreneurs’ political skills on team innovation behavior is realized by building a transactive memory system to integrate and innovate collective knowledge.Team psychological safety plays a moderating role in this influence mechanism.This study provides reference for the research of personal characteristics in the field of academic entrepreneurship,and broadens and deepens the existing research on political skills,harmonious innovation passion,innovative self-efficacy,transactive memory system and innovative behavior.The research conclusions have strong practical significance for academic entrepreneurs to train and improve their political skills,use different aspects of political skills to stimulate innovative behaviors,and build cooperation networks with complementary expertise,mutual trust and division of labor.
