proposes to build a modern industrial system,adhere to the focus of economic development on the real economy,promote new industrialization,and accelerate the construction of manufacturing,quality,aerospace,transportation,network,and digital China.The 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has provided fundamental guidance and pointed out the direction for high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.The 14 th Five Year Plan clearly proposes to "take digital transformation as the overall guidance and comprehensively promote fundamental changes in production,life,and governance methods".General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "supporting the growth of strategic industries,encouraging increased investment in equipment updates and technological transformation,and promoting the optimization and upgrading of traditional manufacturing" is the development path for the future.Digital transformation has crucial and epoch-making significance for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.This study provides an in-depth analysis and dismantling of how digital transformation can be transformed in the current economic environment and stage,as well as the connotation and characteristics of high-quality development in the manufacturing industry.It then proposes four dimensions for digital transformation to promote high-quality development in the manufacturing industry.The digital transformation mainly starts from several aspects such as the application of digital technology,the popularization of digital management,and the production of digital concepts.Through various cutting-edge digital technology applications,a large amount of data and digital information become new and important production factors.Production and management revolve around and utilize these elements,extract data information and the value of the enterprise,and then achieve digital management of the enterprise,And promote it as a new engine for China’s economic development in the new era.From the perspective of industrial and market development,this includes the information and communication industry and its market-oriented applications,that is,the comprehensive integration of manufacturing industry and digital technology,manufacturing industry and data,to assist transformation enterprises in achieving comprehensive improvements in efficiency,management,and philosophy.At the same time,there is a need for a scientific evaluation system and analysis method for the practical significance of digital transformation and high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.In constructing an evaluation index system for high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,based on existing research on manufacturing development indicators and the phased characteristics of high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,a plan and effective indicator measurement system have been proposed to measure the digital level of manufacturing enterprises and evaluate high-quality development.On the one hand,this system can directly observe the current level of digital transformation in the manufacturing industry,and on the other hand,it can provide an objective and effective reflection of high-quality development,helping enterprises and policy makers provide scientific decision-making basis and comprehensively improve the quality of industrial development.Overall,from the perspective of industrial organization theory,in the context of digital transformation,digital technology has had an external impact on the traditional market structure of the entire manufacturing industry,changing the behavior of various market entities,affecting the performance of various stakeholders in the market,and thus changing the original market structure.The three interact and promote each other to promote industrial transformation and upgrading,achieving high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.This study proposes a core theoretical viewpoint that supports the entire text: digital transformation can effectively promote the high-quality development of manufacturing enterprises.Through digital technology,digital management,and digital infrastructure,digital transformation enables,optimizes,and supports the total factor productivity of manufacturing enterprises,promotes green technology innovation,accelerates the integration of manufacturing and service industries,and upgrades the industrial structure,Ultimately,promoting high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.Based on the direction proposed by the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China to promote the high-end,intelligent,and green development of the manufacturing industry,this study refines the mechanism of digital transformation to promote high-quality development of the manufacturing industry into four dimensions: production efficiency,green development,industrial integration,and industrial structure upgrading.In the context of digital transformation,data elements have reconstructed the production factor system of the manufacturing industry,reflecting the data-driven economic and social development model,changing the traditional behavior of enterprises,helping to improve efficiency,reduce costs,and improve organizational performance.The digital transformation has revolutionized the innovation process,making the traditional innovation process of achieving research and application through the continuous accumulation of knowledge,from quantitative to qualitative change,no longer the only innovation law.In each stage of enterprise production and operation,there is no obvious individual innovation stage,but different stages have mutual effects.Implementing different stages,innovation is everywhere,and it is integrated with the various processes of the entire production and management stage,Furthermore,it optimized the internal control management and cost control of the enterprise,and improved total factor productivity.With the deep integration of digital technology and existing technologies in enterprises,it has had a positive impact on the technological resources required for green innovation in manufacturing enterprises.The information sharing and knowledge integration effects generated by digital technology are not only conducive to promoting the green upgrading of existing technologies or processes,but also promote the birth of new green technologies.The application of digital technologies such as big data,the Internet of Things,and blockchain strengthens the network effect between industries,breaks the boundaries of traditional industry connotations,promotes the process of service-oriented manufacturing,and accelerates the integration and development of service and manufacturing industries.The high penetration of digital technology and network externalities have led to the spillover effect of digital transformation,which is conducive to cultivating new industries,formats,and models to promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure.The digital transformation itself presents the characteristic of increasing marginal effects and expanding marketization effects,which not only has a positive impact on the external environment of the industry,but also helps to break the limitations of geographical space and exhibit significant geographical spatial spillover effects.It brings positive external effects to society,promotes the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure,and balances regional economy,achieving high-quality development of manufacturing enterprises.In response to the above four aspects,this study designed empirical routes for the impact of digital transformation in these four dimensions.Firstly,in terms of production efficiency,it has been proven through panel data and threshold regression methods that digitalization of manufacturing has become a key factor in improving the competitiveness of Chinese industrial enterprises.Through digital technology,improving product quality and production efficiency,rapid market response is achieved,thereby meeting the constantly changing needs of consumers and significantly improving the total factor productivity of Chinese industrial enterprises.This impact is showing a gradually increasing trend.After dealing with endogeneity issues and robustness testing,this conclusion still holds.Moreover,there is heterogeneity in the impact of digitalization in manufacturing on high-quality manufacturing at the enterprise and regional levels,especially for state-owned enterprises,large-scale enterprises,high marketization levels,and coastal areas,which benefit more from digital transformation and development.Finally,through analysis,it has been proven that the transformation and development of digital manufacturing can enhance internal control,strengthen cost management,and further promote the improvement of total factor productivity of enterprises.Secondly,in promoting high-quality development of the manufacturing industry and promoting green development,this article conducted in-depth research on heavily polluting enterprises in some listed companies.We conducted empirical research on the impact of digital applications on green technology innovation,as well as the specific impact and mechanism of action,using patent application data from listed companies.The research results indicate that the digital transformation of heavily polluting enterprises can significantly promote green technology innovation.This conclusion still holds after multiple robustness tests.Research has shown that the digital transformation of enterprises mainly promotes green technology innovation and enhances green production capacity by improving the level of information sharing and the ability to integrate innovative knowledge.In addition,heterogeneity analysis shows that companies that place greater emphasis on environmental protection,invest more in green investment,and have stronger regional environmental regulations have a greater incentive effect for innovation generated by digital transformation.The research results of this article reveal the positive role of enterprise digital transformation in green innovation for manufacturing enterprises,enrich and expand relevant research on enterprise digitalization,and conduct in-depth analysis of the compatibility path between enterprise digitalization and green sustainable development.Once again,in promoting the integration of the manufacturing industry,this article constructs spatial econometric models and intermediary models based on provincial panel data from 2013 to 2022 to analyze how digital transformation affects the integration of the manufacturing and service industries.After research,it was found that the digital transformation of enterprises has effectively driven the integration of industries,and the effect is more pronounced in the eastern and northeastern regions of China;The digital transformation of the manufacturing industry can accelerate the integration of industries through the service-oriented manufacturing industry,while the manufacturing of the service industry is not an effective transmission mechanism;Further analysis shows that the integration of manufacturing and service industries has obvious agglomeration characteristics in space.High value agglomeration areas are mainly distributed in the eastern coastal areas such as the Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta,as well as some central provinces.Low value agglomeration is evident in the western and northeastern regions;After considering spatial factors,the "local neighbor" effect of digital transformation driving industrial integration is significant.Compared to the western and northeastern regions,the eastern and central regions have a "first mover advantage" in digital transformation,which generates spatial spillover effects on neighboring regions.In addition,in terms of upgrading the industrial structure of the manufacturing industry,based on theoretical analysis,a manufacturing digitization index and an industrial structure upgrading index were constructed for 30 provinces in China from 2010 to 2022.The bidirectional fixed effects model and spatial Durbin model were used to empirically test the impact of manufacturing digitization on industrial structure upgrading,the spatiotemporal evolution relationship between the two,and the mechanism of digital transformation on industrial structure upgrading.Research has found that the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry has a positive driving effect on the upgrading of industrial structure,which continuously increases with the increase of marginal effects and manifests as a non-linear feature.This phenomenon not only has a positive impact on the industrial structure of the local area,but also has a positive spatial spillover effect on the upgrading of industrial structure in adjacent areas;Mechanism analysis shows that the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry promotes the upgrading of industrial structure by improving the overall level of digitalization of the industry.The research conclusion indicates that the digital transformation of the manufacturing industry is conducive to the coordinated development of the regional economic pattern in China,and can effectively alleviate the current situation of imbalanced economic development among different regions,promoting high-quality and coordinated and stable development of regional economy.Finally,based on comprehensive theoretical and empirical research on the impact of enterprise digitalization on the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry,this article proposes the following suggestions: accelerating the construction of new digital infrastructure,accelerating the formulation of digital technology standards,supporting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into industries,promoting open,connected and shared data,fully leveraging the scale effect of digital transformation,and fully enhancing the digital awareness of various market entities Promote the role of enterprise digitalization in green technology innovation,accelerate the deep integration of digital technology and traditional industries,increase policies,funding and talent support for the digital industry,and implement dynamic and differentiated digital industry development strategies. |
