The on-vehicle navigation & position is a new technology based on Global Positioning System (GPS). Nowadays, the domestic vehicle Autotracking and Positioning Systems are not mature, so these systems do not apply widely. Then, something have to done to improve on technology, to increase the precision and to cut the cost .the following key technology is in favor of resovling these problems. The vehicle Autotracking and Positioning System is comprised of a GPS receiver, a digital map and a embed system. The system obtains GPS signals, works out the real-time position of the vehicle, and send the information to Host through the USB interface. Host has a digital map database, so it can show the vehicle'track. There are two key technology existing in the on-vehicle embed system. one is to research & develop the device driver of GPS signal processing system. The other is to develop Geographical Information System,in order to store Geographical Information, show a digital map, autotrack & position and query Geographical information. The two technology can implement on-vehicle GPS navigation & position. The key that development of GPS signal processing system is to obtain the GPS signals, to pick up the information of the vehicle position, and to communicate with the embed system using Universal Serial Bus.Users can view the real-time position of vehicles by use of GPS and digital map, can query information, and can show some main objects (such as landscape sites, hotels and hospitals, etc .) on the digital map according to the need of user. The reply can be in form of words, speech or pictures, at the same time the position of the target shows on the map.
